Ding ding! You hit the nail on the head. It's the whole we-don't-know-anything part that is the worst.

For me, it's like:

April, case complete! Woohoo!! Yay! Almost done!!

May no interview. Oh well, maybe next month.

June no interview. Oh, hmm. Maybe they're just really busy.

July no interview. Umm. Okay, this is sucking.

August no interview. Did they forget me???

September no interview. Now I am totally crushed.

October no interview. Why am I not surprised.

November ?????

December ????

I will have spent more months waiting for an interview than the paperwork process.

I think the hardest part for applicants would be the waiting and not knowing. I'm sure that if applicants going through MTL were told that their interview would be in 6 months on _______ date it would be better than what it is now which is not knowing. Sure the 6 month wait would suck but it would be better than being completely in limbo.

totally agree

MTL doesn't set up the interview for the CR1 the NVC does....

Hahaha, our experience has been almost exactly the same, except with a bit more liberal use of profanity. :P

MTL doesn't set up the interview for the CR1 the NVC does....

My point is that the waiting around, with no idea when the interview will be, sucks, no matter who is doing (or not doing) the scheduling. It is the absolute most frustrating part of the process, thinking FOR SURE we'll be done next month, only to find out that we'll still be separated for a while longer.

misa is absolutely correct, I would love to know how much longer we have to wait.

And pororoca, there was/is lots of swearing.... and will continue to be lots of truckerin profanity around here!!

Swearing. And lots of pirate "arrrrrggggghhh"-ing too. And we're not even done at the NVC yet!

I agree that the wait would be *almost* tolerable if we knew when our interview would be.

I believe the actual term is utterances ineffable, as in "those Fu**ing Morons at the NVC made me utter some ineffable f-words." :D

I haven't reached the stage where I will suggest that the operators at the NVC take up 4-wheeling as a hobby so they can go truck themselves. :P

Emailed MTL.

I phrased it as 'a mistake has been made' with my interview date. I was very tactful. Too bad it took me 24 hours to calm down enough to attempt it.

On the one hand, I sympathize with MTL; people are on a hair-trigger over anything and everything to do with this process, and it must be hard to deal with people who are emotionally shouting all of the time.

On the other hand, these people have our lives/futures in their hands; hence the hair-trigger.

Hope you get news from them. Sent them 3 e-mails back in January and February and they replied to me the next morning. Hope they can sort it out for you.

That I've always wondered. What's the big deal about sitting one person with a calendar for 1 day and schedule, I don't know, 4-5 persons everyday for the next 6-7 months??? Would probably take about 1 day to do and would calm a lot of minds.....If doctors can do it, why can't they? I asked them in one of my e-mails, saying I don't care if its in 3 months but is it possible to get a date, and I have been lucky enough to be informed 6 weeks in advance of my interview date. But still....

Did you email?

I did, in the middle of the night.

Dated from 10 am this morning, I got a reply saying they have cancelled [sic] the Nov 7th appointment and will schedule me for another date either in Dec 2007 or Jan 2008.

THANKGODTHANKYOUMTL

I explained that I can't activate my visa until May 1st, so unless they can extend the 6 month expiry, it's got to be Dec or later. I wonder if they had to pluck me out of the queue and stick me back in somewhere else? They can't have just put me at the bottom again, or my interview would be much later than Dec or Jan.

I am impressed with MTL at the moment. Maybe they just got so eager to clear the backlog they got carried away?

Thanks for your help, everyone!

Oh, this reminded me. When I was at my K-1 interview they told me I could wait and send them my passport when I was ready to move instead of leaving it with them that day. That way the clock wouldn't start ticking until then. Worst case scenario you could always do that.
