I may come back to this later, because I am just barely coherent enough to type. My eyes keep misting over- in red.

As some of you may remember, I EXPLICITLY asked the MTL consulate NOT to give me an interview BEFORE December, as I CANNOT move BEFORE May the 1st.

I called MTL, canceled my July interview, and asked for a DECEMBER AT THE EARLIEST interview, and chickface said fine, I will put you back on the waiting list with a note saying DO NOT SCHEDULE BEFORE DECEMBER 2007.

Well lah-dee-dah, I come home to find package 4 from MTL, informing me I have an interview scheduled ... on NOVEMBER 7th!

*insert long string of heartfelt and creative expletives questioning the sexual practices and possible genealogy of the schedulers at MTL, punctuated by inarticulate screams of guttural fury*

And of course, I can't call them now. Lovely. What email address do we use? I've always called them before.

bleepofaBLEEP!

Ha... on this thread we've got someone who's angry about being scheduled for not one, but TWO interviews within a period of five months; meanwhile, on that other thread, we've got people who are just as angry about being scheduled for ZERO interviews during that same period of time and longer.

Whoever said "life ain't fair" must have worked at the Montreal Consulate. ;)

Ah but Galateia sent her packet3 back in Jan. She figured out her priorities and is sticking with them.

Just shows you Montreal is moving faster now. Otherwise she probably wouldn't have gotten one till 2008. Pretty soon everyone in the Canada forum is going to be gone *sigh*

Lona, there's a expiration date on the K1 (6 months from date of issue). It needs to be "activated" before that or it's null and void. After you enter the K1 is essentially "void" since it's a one time entry and then the clock starts ticking with your I-94 that you are issued (90 day validity). Going for the November interview would cut things a little close though if she can't move before May 1st.

Galateia, hope you can get this cleared up and hopefully they can give your spot to Kimmbo's husband. :)

I'm sure that any of the CR1/IR1 folks who have been waiting since April for an interview would have been happy to take one of the interview slots. I wonder what the consulate does when someone cancels their interview? Go to Tims for an extra break??

I thought I read somewhere that one can only put off an interview for soo long before one has to start over again, but I could be wrong!!

I guess Im the only one that sticks up for Mtl, lol I know when my wife worked at State dept, and how many of her friends still do, and we have relatives that are foreign service personnel(the people that work abroad in the consulates) they are over worked so there is no slouching off just because of a cancellation!! Just means that other work that was next in line got worked on next. Glad to see Mtl is speeding up.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I think that a petition can expire yes. That happened to me. Thats why it took me so long for me to get a visa.

Not because I put the interview off though. I didn't get one of the packets in the mail, as I had moved.
