I AM SO EXCITED! I called CSC today and they told me our petition was mailed to the NVC yesterday. I'm so happy I could cry! My nightmare is over!

Mike you should call too, I bet yours is in the same batch.

First of all.... CONGRATS! I hope it has actually been mailed and not sent back to the "mail room".... those guys are clueless as you know.

I called USCIS yesterday and was "escalated" to a second person after the first one said my petition should have been sent directly to the embassy and not to NVC The second person could only say that as far as she can tell from the information it has been sent and should be there soon, just wait longer! AGHHHH I HATE THESE PEOPLE!!!

I got in touch with my congressman's office yesterday too and I just faxed them my information release form so they can do an inquiry on my behalf. That's about all I know to do now. Even the person on the phone at USCIS claimed that CSC has no phone numbers and there is no way she could contact them. And that if it hasn't been 90 days they can't even check on it.

UGH! I swear they will drive you insane!

I actually spoke with the same person I spoke with on Friday, so I'm pretty sure he was giving me the correct info. But you are right, they are for sure clueless!

Have you tried calling using the RFE trick? It's the only way I can ever get a hold of anyone at CSC. Either way it really sounds like your petition has been sent somewhere - either the embassy or to NVC. I'm planning on calling NVC on Thursday to see if ours arrived. Keep the faith, it sounds like you are on your way

hey musicgirl.... what did you say to the peeps at CSC to get them to tell you more on your case status to NVC? the person i talked to seemed clueless and said it should have already been sent to NVC! any help would be appreciated! thanks

I called and used the RFE trick - make sure you are being transferred to CSC and not the main USCIS number. I simply asked if my petition had been sent to the NVC yet. No special trick Good luck!!

As a side note, they finally returned my call from Friday and the lady told me the exact same info that I was told today - that my petition was sent to the NVC. I was in total shock they actually called me back!

Our NOA2 was 10-15-07 from CSC for those that are tracking timelines..

I was surprised actually. Less than 2 weeks from CSC to NVC. Much better than some other people have been experiencing..

We're just lucky. I've never contacted either CSC or NVC at all. Early on I resigned to the fact that it was a futile exercise unless you get to a point where you really think something's wrong or your case is lost. Luckily we never ran into that, just waited 4 months for NOA2 like everyone else..

nice to know they are least return a call!! I simply asked as well and she said they had sent it to NVC shortly after the approval but no definite date!!!!! so, i'm hopin to see something this wk, else i'll call again next week!!

Just got off of the phone w/ NVC and she said they dont have my case yet and once they receive it they will forward it to the embassy!! she said they should have it by the end of the month or the first of the month!! so that makes it tomorrow or latest next week!!! Tomorrow will be 3wks and so a wk from tomorrow they should have it!! will call them then if I dont receive anything!

I can't seem to get through to NVC at all! Choosing the option to speak with an operator or the option for the K visa gives me a spanish recording and then kicks me back to the automated system saying all operators are busy which eventually says goodbye to me and hangs up.

Hi Rustling,

You have to keep trying and trying to get through to someone. Keep calling and press 1, then 5 and eventually you will get a recording telling you approx. how long you will wait to speak with someone. I usually call around 11:30-midnight Eastern Time and have had success getting through to someone. Just have to be persistent! Good luck!

I called lastnight and was able to obtain our ALG number. Hopefully they will be sending it the embassy soon!

I would recommend all of you waiting for your petitions to reach the NVC to write to them with your case number: NVCInquiry@state.gov

They reply as soon as they receive it, it usually takes them 5 - 10 days to reply to e-mails ... but atleast you dont have to keep thinking about it or calling them often.

Samir was able to make his medical appointment for November 10th since we now have our NVC case number. I'm going to check with the NVC tonight to see if the package was mailed out to the embassy.

Thanks Erin! Hmm, I wonder if I should have Florin make his medical appt too...I might have him wait until he gets packet 3 though. He's picking up the packet from the embassy instead of having it mailed. He's planning on filling out the checklist and turning it in the same day. We're hoping that might speed things up a bit. You guys should contact your embassies too - I emailed them and asked if my fiance could pick it up instead of having it mailed to him. They said he could and to just have Florin call and find out when our petition had arrived. Any way to make this process faster!!

I sent all the papers and pics and stuff last week - I'm so glad I did now! Hey, does anyone know if it's a requirement to send another letter of intent? I didn't send one, and now I'm wondering if I should. It wasn't listed on the checklist I got from the embassy. I know VJ includes it in their list, but I didn't know how important it was...

Hey Laurel,

A fellow VJer who recently went through the Algerian embassy was kind enough to scan the documents that will be contained in Packet 3. I have nearly all of that paperwork completed, but Samir is in the process of competing the rest of his paperwork, so I felt pretty confident that it was OK for him to make the medical appointment (unless we get held up at the NVC for some reason....).

I did draw up an updated letter of intent to marry that has both of our names on it and a place for both of us to sign and date it as well. I'm not sure how important it is, but I went ahead and did it anyway.

Whew! We've gone from waiting to rush rush!
