Who says that it´s only for K1? K3s are on the same boat with us...

Yikes! I hope I didn't sound unfriendly...I only meant that there is a whole other forum for K3's...while they are in the same "immigration" boat as us, I believe their timelines, process, etc are different than us K1-ers. I just thought they would have better information if they were in the correct area. Sorry if I sounded unwelcoming or anything - totally not my intention! :)

Timeline:

5/2/07 - Mailed petition to Nebraska Service Center

5/7/07 - Received Petition in Nebraska

5/30/07 - NOA1 - Petition at CSC

9/19/07 - Approved!! NOA2 - 140 days from filing!!!

9/24/07 - Hardcopy NOA2 received

10/29/07 - Sent to NVC - 40 Days from NOA2

10/31/07 - Case received at NVC - Happy Halloween!

11/02/07 - Case left NVC - Yay!

11/08/07 - Case received in Bucharest - picked up Packet 3 from embassy

11/09/07 - Received NVC Letter

11/12/07 - Medical exam

11/19/07 - Interview - success! Visa in hand!

11/21/07 - POE Seattle

1/19/08 - Marriage

2/2/08 - Applied for AOS, AP, EAD

2/8/08 - Received all 3 NOA1's

2/29/08 - Biometrics

3/18/08 - AP and EAD approved, card production ordered

3/24/08 - Received AP in the mail

3/25/08 - EAD card sent in the mail

3/27/08 - EAD received

9/19/08 - Received interview letter - FINALLY!!!

10/17/08 - Interview 11am

10/27/08 - Card Production Ordered

Oh boy! More weird news.

My fiance called USCIS and he was informed that our case was sent directly to the embassy. NVC has never received. Why would they do that?

Gosh, and if they have lost it or somehow there's something wrong with it and no one have let us know? I'm so, SO worried.

There are so many things I still need to do here, as for resign from my work and so... and I would like so badly to be with him by Christmas time!

I emailed embassy here in Brazil but it will take at least 1 whole weak to get an answer.

Have anyone ever heard anything alike?

Back when I didn't know what was going on with my case, I called USCIS to see if they had at least sent my petition to NVC and the woman told me from what she understood, K-visas are said directly to the embassy. I told her that it clearly states on my NOA2 that cases are first forwarded to the NVC and then to the appropriate consulate. She did some checking and still insisted that they were forwarded directly to the embassy. Well, about a week later I received my letter from the NVC saying they had received my case and forwarded it to Paris. I really don't think USCIS and NVC communicate with each other very well. You will probably receive a letter from NVC telling you the same thing. When you get this letter, it pretty much means your case is already in and out.

09/07/07 - NOA2

10/09/07 - NVC

10/20/07 - Packet 3

10/27/07 - Packet 4

11/07/07 - Medical

12/11/07 - Interview

12/25/07 - POE Chicago

01/18/08 - Wedding

01/24/08 - AOS Packet Sent

01/27/08 - NOAs for AOS, EAD, and AP

03/27/08 - AP Received

05/01/08 - EAD Received

08/06/08 - RFE for I-485

Well, it has been over a month already, so I really wish you are right.

I even called the local post office to check if there was any mail to me lost there - LOL.

Is it typical for the interview to be scheduled so long after turning in packets 3 & 4?? I'm assuming that it varies per country, but do you know what the average wait time is?

9/18/07 Called USCIS, told to wait 6 months before checking status

9/24/07 Called USCIS, used RFE trick, told that last document sent was NOA1

9/25/07 Touch

10/9/07 Called USCIS, used RFE trick, told that last document sent was NOA1 and that case is pending

10/11/07 TOUCH!

10/12/07 TOUCH AND APPROVAL E-MAIL NOTIFICATION! WOOHOO!!!! Notice sent 10/11. (144 days from filing)

10/15/07 NOA2 hardcopy in-hand!

10/17/07 Packet 3 paperwork completed, given to relative who will hand deliver to fiancee in Laos on the 19th

It varies by consulate. Some are weeks, some are months, others have open appointments.

It varies by consulate. Some are weeks, some are months, others have open appointments.

If I was you, I would call the embassy in Rio de Janeiro today our 13:30 to ask if your case is there already!

March 20 - Wedding (civil)

April 24 - Sent AOS package (USPS)

April 29 - AOS delivered in Chicago

May 07 - Money order was cashed

May 09 - Received in mail 3 NOAs (AOS, EAD, AP: notice date May,5/2008) - ALL CASES ONLINE

May 12 - Received in mail Biometrics appointment (notice date May,8/2008)

May 16 - Touch (3 cases) ?

May 22 - Biometrics appointment - done

July 07 - AP approval notice and EAD card production ordered (email and online)

July 08 - touch AP and EAD

July 09 - touch EAD

July 10 - email from CRIS, EAD card production ordered

July 14- email from CRIS and online update, EAD aproval notice sent

July 14 - received EAD card
