I told Sara (my wife) I don't care where we live so long as we are together. We can go to Canada, the UK, or New Zealand. It doesn't matter where in the world we go so long as we are together.

USCIS can really topple and change people's lives, but the measure of your relationship is tested when struck with adversity.

Today I got some sad news, a dear friend of mine who has been going through this visa process has decided to give up the journey. I couldn't believe it. She told me her and her husband has agreed to go there seperate ways because she's tired of waiting for a visa to be issued to her husband. She told me this could go on forever and she is not willing to go on like this indefinitely. She has been waiting for two years. I was so sorry to hear this news. I'm wondering does this happen quite a bit during the visa wait??? I can't seem to wrap my brain around this process causing the divorce of two wonderful people. Any thoughts anyone?

Is this America? Aren't we allowed to marry who we want in pusuit of happiness? I mean 2 years if PROOF of a real relationship. Aaaargh!

Sorry, just a rant in sympathy with people stuck in limbo with a dire choice to make.

I agree with you. In a way, this process sorts out the people who truly love each other from the people who don't. The people who chose to give up because the process is too long would probably have relationship problems that has nothing to do with the process. These people would probably get divorced very soon if their spouse was able to get here quicker. I have been waiting for 9 months for my wife and I am lucky that it will not take much longer. However, I love my wife so much that even this process takes forever, I will still not give up the process.

Also goes to show that something must be don with the way their system is run....Its a bunch of BS.....They dont even inform us as to where we stand , where they stand...all we get is the same " you are withing the 6 month timeframe".....the website is update by a computer monthly and thats about it....maybe if they kept us better informed, the process would be a little bit easier to handle!!!!!!!!

Byron -

Most of the people posting in this thread are experiencing delays you can't even relate to. REAL delays of months and years, caught in security checks usually at the consulate level. The homeland of their loved ones are either on terrorist watch lists or produce a large number of citizens who will do anything and everything (including participate in marriage fraud) to get to the US. Their husbands, wives, and betrothed are undergoing security clearances and consular interrogation. Some have already been outright denied for a visa. They deal with consular vagueries and misinformation they are given straight to their face - a game of emotional chess. For whatever reason, they are experiencing the TRUE hellishness of this system.

You aren't even at that stage yet and God willing you never will be. Any 'delay' you are going through at the moment is purely normal paperwork pushing. Why don't you settle down for a day or two and read some of their stories. Maybe then you won't be so inpatient about your own case.

Hmmm, I don't agree with that statement. I do believe each person is different and the circumstances in each case is different. Since I am new on here I don't know much about how long people wait to be together, but 4 yrs that you have been waiting is extremely long to me and being denied at that must be truly painful, I do believe you are in the minority as far as sticking it out past the 4yrs after being denied. I have read some postings on here where people have been denied and went with a plan B to be together in another country if their circumstances has allowed it. I have also read where people have said if they had been denied then they would have to go there separate ways because their circumstances does not allow for them to be together in another country. I don't believe the issue is as black as white as it seems. One last thing which I know will probably upset a lot of people on here, I wonder how many people who have been in long waits such as years end up going outside of their marriage while they are waiting??? I dare to say more people then we know, because most people won't admit to infidelity. My thoughts only...I'm waiting for the arrows to come by way :)

i will say once again , thats its my 4th year being denied and trust me i am not stress, nor i will let my self my stress, if i am getting visa or i am not getting visa thats another issue but i wont leave my wife for damn visa, hell no never, if i cant go to usa she can get here, i will say onething , that if some one dont get to usa it means the world is finished hell no , again i will say we shouldnt have to stuck up our head on onething that oh damn why i am not getting visa when i will go , this is ####### i wont take this stress any more , these thoughts will mess up everything and lets be honest, one onething even u say f***k it , i am giving up , so what, still it wont slove the problem u will be stuck up in same place, time will go on , time wont stop it self, when we know the outcome why would give up hell no never ever, i will fight till to the last bullet till the to last drop of my blood, no one can stress me or no one can make me to give up , even bush tells me , u cant get visa , i will say f****k u , if u wont give me visa , i dont care my wife is going to be with me, this is what all matters to me ,

talking about divorce , give up , these are all cowards in my point of view sorry to say but this is the truth, and i will ask those guys and girls who married , that DID THEY MARRY WITH VISA OR WITH THEIR SPOUSE? this is selfish attitude, it shouldnt be like this, one last thing i will say that

its easy to say i do , but it is damn difficult to stand up on those words, its easy to get married but sustaining the marriage is damn difficult, no deny,

MY advice once again dont give up , and work hard God will help you , i have faith on it that Allah will listen , coz i know that PRAYERS CAN BE DELAYED BUT CANT BE DENIED.

I think the only cowards are those who will not be open to love with someone from another country because they are scared of the process. Giving up is a whole different thing. I sypathize with those of you stuck in processing hell. I wish you luck in whatever choices you need to make.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

For someone who is not stressed it sure seems that way. I could hardly understand the point you were making through all the choice of four letter words you chose to use to get your point across. In case you didn't get my point I will stress it again, I don't agree with you about being a coward because I think each person's case is different. I for sure don't know all the circumstances in my friend's case other then she can not go to live in her husband's country and he can't come here for now. Maybe she doesn't have the make up of a person who can wait indefinitely and I know she doesn't have the money to visit him every year, not everyone is the same. Coward or not, it boils down to this, it is too bad that a process puts so much strain on a marriage. Glad to know you are not stressed out in your journey, unfortunately not everyone has the patience or belief that you do, but then that's what make the world go around...different people.

I agree that delays really tell you if the person loves you or your papers. I am struggling with a one year delay due to a misfiling and now I am stuck at csc. I do not know at this point if we will make it or not because my husband is showing signs of depression and being tired with the process. I have been holding on to hope past all hope being gone and I have been deeply sad and deeply depressed about the process, losing hope with each passing day and not seeing any results. I hope that the stress of seperation does not mean the end of me and him because we started all of this so passionately in love and with so much joy but its been since January on the first file and then I refiled in June only to have my 129f kicked back due to the attorney not sendinng in the money order I sent him. My job has been really doing bad due to market conditions and i am so afraid I will not have the money to show when I have to turn in my affadavit of support. I am heartbroken, tired, depressed, losing hope, feeling isolated and sad and unable to sleep. I wish I could just be there with him and we could talk and all the pain of the seperation over the last year would go away... We have had so many fights over the wait.... so much heartache.. and its been really hard. All I can do is try to make it through each day and go on to the next day and just keep some kind of hope alive in my heart.. but i am losing ground for sure...

I know this feeling and sympathize with the couple that gave up on immigration. I moved to Canada to be with my husband and was in process for with Canadian immigration for 2 years. I never received any communication from the Canadian Immigration people, they never requested additional information, or ever requested an interview with either of us. It was incredibly difficult emotionally as well as finacially to be sitting around for that length of time waiting. We withdrew our Canadian immigration application and I moved back to the U.S. where I am now sponsoring my husband into the U.S. My husband even withdrew his Canadian citizenship application (he has been a PR in Canada for 15 years) and will pursue U.S. citizenship as soon as he is eligble.

Aaaargh!

Sorry, just a rant in sympathy with people stuck in limbo with a dire choice to make.

nope we don't have such to choose to a spouse.

I wish I'd have known better, but I'm glad I didn't. My ignorance allowed me to marry the correct woman. I'll probably have to wait, and fight and fight and wait, and possible leave the USA also.
