Maybe you need to stop reading them then...if they are disturbing you so much.

Oh no...not the whole don't read it if I don't like it but everyone else can complain about it line again!!

There are 300,000 to 500,000 individuals, each spouting the same message, on the streets of downtown Dallas. Their message is in support of actions that are clearly illegal.

But you have a problem with a few dozen posters who choose to do the same thing on VJ? Even though the message here is one of law-obeying, not law-breaking?

Amazing.

Melissa, I think you are just a tad too close to the "illegal" aspect and that's what REALLY bothers you...not that people are complaining about something YOU agree with...

What REALLY bothers me is the self-righteous tones of all these repetitive posts. If you want to make a point, that's fine. But let's think and come up with something new-anyone have anything new and interesting to say about the subject or all we all just going to keep regurgitating what's already been said? I keep coming on this thread thinking there will be something I can respond to or learn from only to find a repeat of a previous post every time. Now I believe us all to be free thinking intelligent individuals but this is turning into the same kind of mob mentality that "they" are involved in. What good is that accomplishing? Absolutely nothing.

Ah... the truth comes out! Well, I personally want to complain some more as well, because I have the right to! If others got there chance, including "MissLiss", then so should the rest of us.

I think this whole immigration thing stinks to high heaven, and that all the illegals should be sent packing. Why should they have "rights" in a country where they don't respect the laws? They suck our welfare system dry, yet what do they contribute to it? If they want rights, then they need to enter this country legally, get naturalized, and then vote.

Look at this quote:

Nineth Castillo, a 26-year-old waitress from Guatemala who joined the Atlanta march, said she has lived in the United States for 11 years "without a scrap of paper."

Asked whether she was afraid to parade her undocumented status in front of a massive police presence, she laughed and said: "Why? They kick us out, we're coming back tomorrow."

Once again, no respect for the law! Like someone else said, they should have buses waiting for after the protests to pack 'em up and ship 'em out! Why don't they go protest in their own countries to make things better there, instead of pissing and moaning in ours?

Sorry, this whole thing just pisses me off to no end, and I'd love to see our law makers do the right thing for a change, and not promote illegal immigration.

Well, in my honest opinion, I think all the protests, etc. are a waste of time because I don't think any law is going to be passed any time soon. I believe in a guest worker program but not for those who have been here the longest. First of all, that makes no sense seeings how if they've been here the longest they've made more money...they should be about ready to return home. There should be a system of determining need-for example, a family to support. Basically, under the qualifications I'm thinking of, it would be impossible for Javier to qualify. I think border security needs to be tightened-I can't believe I just wrote that. But it's true. Javier and I have had discussions on this. The illegal aliens in essence make their own lives difficult by coming over in huge quantities. I can explain that theory if you want. I think Mexico in particular needs to get out from the backlog it is currently under where it is taking upwards of 9 months to get an immigrant visa interview. That's another story.

Not that your immigrant, SORRY, ILLEGAL, immigration situation affects me just yet, it does in so much as I am going to be a LEGAL immigrant and I am in full support of everything you are all saying. it is damned hard on eveyone who is doing it the legal way and to see this type of thing, is basically sickening.

Trouble is we are used to it here also, maybe not the marches but the "do-gooders" the Human rights lawyers (who after all are only lining their own pockets ) and if you say anything against it, you are just plain racist. And apart from the fact that laws are not respected, in a huge amount of cases, neither is the country that they want to live in.!! leeches go back and start to make a difference in their own countries!! Well said to the previous poster.

God only knows that America gives away enough money to these countries, so where the hell is it all going, into some "Politicians ####### pocket !! (forgive the language) but they make me mad also.

Ok well there's basically 2 parts to it.

The first part involves the idea of supply and demand. There is a certain demand for illegal workers in the United States. An overwhelming supply leads to a situation where to be illegal is cheapened. Therefore, you don't make as much money, which is the whole reason to come here in the first place.

The second part has to do with Visas. So many come over illegally because they don't qualify for a Visa. The reason it is so hard to get a Visa in Mexico is because of the illegal aliens who have abused Visitor Visas in the past. This is an example of what goes around comes around.

Just because something may not be passed soon doesn't mean we can't tell our elected officials...who by the way should be working for US, not loads of people like Nineth Castillo in roi_aggie's quote...what we find unacceptable and if they support this, they can expect not to receive OUR support next time they are up for election. It IS what the system should be about...they are suppose to represent us afterall.

As far as taking upwards of 9 months to get an immigrant visa, I'm not sure what you are talking about. 9 months from the time someone first petitions or 9 months from the time they are approved to the interview date. Because I'm quite sure Mexico doesn't process their cases nearly as slowly as many other consulates around the globe. In fact didn't I read in another post that the Mexican embassy is actally quite speedy in some aspect...could have been their waiver cases (with a high percentage of approvals).
