Last year I moved to Brazil to spend time with my fiancee before we starting the K1 process. While that was a good "meet within 2 years" bullet point, I shot myself in the foot because I am now $1000 shy of the min poverty guideline for last year :( (Normally I make approx 50k a year)

Anyway... I have the last 5 years of Tax returns and W2s. Hopefully, they will let that $1000 slide. My father (retired) agreed to cosponsor as a "Plan B" if they want to be picky about the $1000. What will I need from him? I-134 and supporting docs or are there any special cosponsor forums he needs to do? I searched but really didn't fine a "what is needed for cosponsor thread"...

Thanks!

I believe all you need is the I-134, but I'm not 100% sure of that. In any case, I hope that by "Plan B" you mean "Plan A." That is, I hope you're filing initially with a co-sponsor, rather than waiting to see if you need one. File with the co-sponsor so that you won't have lengthy delays later on if they decide to be picky over the $1000. Good luck!!

Hmmm I had planned on not using my father unless they said I needed him. You are probably right, why cause delays and more headaches? Just get it out of the way at the begining...

Oh.... When he completes the form, is he sponsoring me who is sponsoring her or is he sponsoring her?

I'd definitely recommend going the co-sponsor route at the beginning if that's an option for you. You really don't want to have to try to appeal a denial. I'm not sure how that works, but if it's anything like the rest of the process you could be waiting a very long time.

Oh.... When he completes the form, is he sponsoring me who is sponsoring her or is he sponsoring her?

He is co-sponsoring her.

They will be picky - the income met absolutely has to meet the guidelines - and your father is sponsoring her.

this is the way the world ends
