Hello everyone!!!

My hubby has applied for CR-1 visa for me. All my paperwork and documentation is done by my maiden name. As per the guidelines of NVC Passport should be amended to reflect marriage whereas my passport is still carrying my maiden name. Should I change my name completely on the passport or just add my Hubby's name to it??????

Eagerly waiting for your advice.....

Gifty,

You really dont have to change your name and can still continue using your maiden name. In fact if you have already applied using your maiden name I would recommend against changing it now to avoid any confusions(you can change it later once you get your GC). On the last page of your passport there is a place where you identify your husband's name. You need to have your husband's name added there.

Yeah, its up to you how you want your last name to be, but keep in mind you will have to change it too with the social security office, bank, passport, bills and etc. I did a name change in March to my husband's last name with my social security number and passport.
