I have my AOS interview in a couple of weeks. I submitted I-864 (co-sponsor and sposue sponsor). My cosponsor enclosed her most recent tax return, W2s, and also recent paystubs (even though that was not required).

My notice for interview states the following: (to bring with me)

A completed affidavit(s) of Support (I-864) with all required evidence, including the following for each of your sponsors (unless already submitted)

- Federal Income Tax Returns and W-2s, or certified IRS printouts, for the past 3 years;

- Letters from each current employer, verifying current rate of pay and average weekly hours, and pay stubs for the past 2 months;

- Evidence of your sponsor's and/or cosponsor's United States Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Resident Status

My cosponsor only enclosed her most recent tax return. I guess she should get me all of her tax returns from the last three years. My cosponsor did not enclose an employment letter (which was not required), but I guess I need one now. Finally, paystubs for the last 2 months were enclosed in the initial application, but perhaps best to get two "fresh" ones (even though I filed the application in the end of June this year)

Has anyone some recent interview experience, and whether they wanted tax returns from the last three years (or whether the most recent one was sufficient). I am just a little puzzled. It is my understanding that earlier you had to submit employment letter, paystubs, tax returns for the three most recent years. Then, it was changed, and only last year's tax return was required when filing. Now you apparently need all the info again.... (but only at the interview)

Also, I should probably bring original evidence of cosponsor's citizenship...? (filed a copy in my application)

Any thoughts??

Yes, you should bring all documents that you can with you. This would include you, your spouse, and sponsors tax returns, work stubs, etc. You should bring with you proof of your relationship such as pictures and any documents with both your names on it such as Bank statements, rental agreements, car insurance, etc. The more you bring with you the better your chances are of being approved right away. Its always better to bring all the original documents with you, just in case they ask for them.

Our interviewer told us that we were the first couple to bring all the evidence requested and more. She approved us within 15 minutes. I told her its very hard to pack your life into a small package but we did our best. She told us that some people only show up with their marriage certificate and expect to be approved. Its always better to bring too much vs. not enough.

Good luck !

Does everybody need to bring an I-864 to their interview despite having sent one with the AOS package?

Does it have to be a whole new I-864, or just copies of the I-864 you submitted originally?

Bring all the things they ask. Make sure the Affidavit of Support is current and if not revise it and bring a new one. Bringing three years of tax returns if you have them is good to have (why not just keep them from having one more thing to pick on).

You can use this form to request tax transcripts (official) from the IRS for the last three years :). They are much easier to have then a bunch of copies of your old tax returns!

Good luck!!
