wow....not a good thread.... This could is a very sensitive issue...and also private.....some people (hopefully not "alot") could be trying to find a co-sponsor right now. Whoever needs a co-sponsor today....does not mean they will need one tomorrow....I would like to think of it as a temporary situation that someone is in right now.

To Blessed to be stressed:) I realize that all things have a purpose and a time.....have faith and the Lord Almighty will provide... when the time is right, he NEVER fails!

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

i don't understand the shock this thread is causing. beckypua just asked a question bp was curious about. if you've not read any of beckypua's post before, bp is not the kind of person that intentionally tries to upset people. please don't take it the wrong way & take offense.....i'm sure it wasn't intended to be offensive.

I understand your point here, boo boo, however if it IS a sensitive issue, or private, then members simply don't need to post their details in this thread. There certainly is no stigma against those who do require a co-sponsor, after all. ;)

Hubby and I are recent graduates, living in a small rented apartment, in Puerto Rico where cost of living is lower. We have comfort but don't overspend, we only have one car which is fully paid for, and with paying student loans, our bills total around $1.100 monthly, including groceries, gas, well, everything appart from dining out, movies, etc.

We used a co-sponsor when we applied for my K1 and GC.

You'd be surprised at how many people live below the poverty guideline, it all depends on where you live and how much debt you have.

I left school last year and my total income was 13,500 because I was in school. I married in January, AOS was filed for my husband in March - and my job wasn't permanent but above the poverty line, and I didn't want to risk delays because of my income. So I got a co-sponsor. My mom doesn't pay my bills, she was just helping my husband out.

I don't understand it either. I don't read anything between the lines that is saying the OP is better than those who need a co-sponsor. Am I missing something? I wonder how people can live on much less than we make when we don't live it up either. It's not meant as "ewww, how CAN you manage to live properly on THAT pittance"....but rather, wow, how DO you do it? And maybe they'd have good tips on where to save money that I hadn't thought about. Who knows? Just as we have friends who make much more than we do and are shocked to know what our combined income is. They can't imagine living on what WE make. It's all relative. But seriously, I just took this as a innocent question. *shrugs*

Maybe you're right. But I have seen this question brought up on numerous occasions where all I could see was a bunch of people bragging about their high salaries and just "innocently" wondering how someone could live at the poverty level, or how "if you're complaining about increased fees then you must not have wads of cash lying around and therefore are in no position to sponsor an immigrant." Or something like that...

No, it's exactly like that ;) All the time people used to make those digs... I guess college student to working professional wasn't something they could understand, or the salary change that came along w/ it.

Sorry if I offended any you guys.

I care less how much others make. Just how can you live on an income below min poverty guideline.

Here in Hawaii that barely pays for dog food for a year! :(

People even end up eating the dog!

Does still happen here but not as common as it used to be. The old Filipinos and old Hawaiians are dying off!

Gas is $384 99 and rising!

We are "outta here" as soon as my wife gets her USC.

Philippines next stop.

Old saying! Go West " Young man, Go West" > Body not that young anymore but the brain still is!

I was out of work because my Dad was dying, and I wanted to spend as much time with him as I could before he passed. I had enough money saved up for my husband and I to get by frugally for a few months with no income, but not enough to qualify as his sponsor (I was his K-1 sponsor). My Dad wanted to sponsor my husband, but he died before he could, he told mom to sponsor my husband instead because he knew he wouldn't make it. He died just a few days before we filed for AOS.
