My fiance just got his interview date for October the 17th at 930am in the Frankfurt Embassy!! It also has listed his medical exam for the same day at 730am. I had read somewhere else that the medical exam is suppose to be done before the interview date? He is coming from quite a ways away, is it possible that they are doing this to save him an extra trip? If it is the same day.. if he has the medical exam done at 730, will he be done in time to be at the embassy by his 930 appointment? Thanks for any help I can get on this... I don't want any more delays!!

The medical exam normally consists of taking a TB exam, which the patient needs to return for after 24 hours of placing the needle under his skin.

It is not possible to have the medical and appointment on the same date.

It is standard practice at the Frankfurt Consulate General to have the medical exam and the interview appointments on the same day. This is the normal schedule set up by the Consulate itself. If your medical exam is at 7:30am, it usually is over by 9am and there is enough time to get to the Consulate by 9:30am by car. (The taxi ride takes about 15min -- if you go by your own car, you need extra time looking for a free parking space which is *very* scarce.) You can go on an earlier day if you wish, but it's not really necessary. Even if you are a bit late at the Consulate, that's okay since there is likely to be a line anyway and they cannot possibly accommodate everyone with a 9:30 appointment at the same time. --- My wife recently had her interview at the Frankfurt Consulate and she also had had the same same-day 7:30/9:30 appointments for medical and interview. She actually went a day early for her medical since we were in the Frankfurt area anyway and she wanted to be on the safe side, but she later realized that the same-day arrangement would have worked just as well since her medical took only about an hour.

Good luck!

No, only bloodwork and chest x-ray. They also checked her vaccination records which were all up-to-date since my wife had gotten all missing shots at her GP's beforehand. (There is information elsewhere on VJ which vaccinations you need. It can also be found at the Department of State's website.)

Never heard of that TB skin test being done in Germany either... they only did a x-ray and blood test with me in the beginning of this year. As said above, it is no problem to do both, medical exam and interview at the same day, even if you are running late to the interview, you will be just fine.

When you do medical exam and interview the same day though, it will delay the process a little, this means, you will have to wait a little longer for your passport with the visa in it. Usually you receive it back within a week, that's if you did your exam a couple of days or 2 or 3 weeks before the actual interview. If you do both at the same day the consulate will wait for the results of the medical exam and then send you passport and documents back. But it's not a long delay. Just wanted to mention it.

And about the immunization requirements: with either package 3 or 4 they send you a list with the requirements.
