Hi

I am in the process of changing the beneficiaries Embassy from Pakistan to Jordan. We already sent in the letter and all the forms, including DS-230. They said they needed proof that he was a resident of Jordan so that his interview can be in Jordan so we sent in proof of residecy 2 weeks ago and they still haven't reviewed it.. and because they are holding back reviewing the I-864 and DS-230!! Why are they so slow!

Has anyone ever gone through changing embassies before?

Can anyone give me an estimated time frame as to when this case could be completed.

If it wasn't for changing embassies..i would be looking forward to the interview by now... but it was something we had to do.

Hey I had my case transferred two times. The first time it was from frankfurt to london and the second time it was from london to islamabad. Actually what I was told by the embassy, that when the case is transferred from one country's embassy to another, it is not done through UPS, DHL or any other courier service but through diplomatic way. It took 15-20 days for my case to be transferred from frankfurt to london and almost the same time from london to islamabad. Ok here I would like to mention one more thing. The embassy did not ask me to prove anything but they asked me to make a request of transfer in writting, which off course I did through Fax.

Ok now to what happened once the case is transferred? The embassy send me the packet 3.5 again and I had to provide them with all the documents again (police certificates from the countries I lived before and from the preset country, new medical examination, I had to fill in DS-230 once again and I had to furnish the embassy with a new affidavit of support). May be you won't be asked to provide all the documents like me because most of my documents wre more than 3 years old. But if they do ask you for them don't be surprised.

I was aksed to bring all these documents with me on the date of my new interview at islamabad embassy as I already had given one interview in frankfurt few years back. You might be interested in what they asked me in my second interview? Well the only question that made sense to me, why I am here and why did I stop persuing my case on frankfurt and london? So be prepared, the consular might asked the same question once the case is transferred. But this time for me the interview was for just 5 minutes.

After the interview they took my finger prints and did a back ground check for almost 3-1/2 months. After this times I was asked by the embassy to come again for a new set of finger prints cause the one they had last time from me had some problem. Then it took another 3-1/2 months for this check. After that once they were satisfied that I am cleaned they decided to issue the visa but before that they wanted a new confirmation if the relationship between me and my wife is still running. So I had to provide them with the proof of on going relationship. If you are lucky and all the documents that you provided are still valid and not expired, you will get the visa. This exactelt what has happened to me. Because all all the trouble I had gone throug my medical got expired and I had to provide them with a new one. After that I got my IR1 :)

I hope this info. is good for you and for the others who might wanna change embassies :) :)
