Hello everyone -

I am not sure if I am posting this in the right forum, but here it is:

Does anyone know if it possible to get a copy or verify the returned portion (departure) of I-94 from 10 years ago?

Border Department in phone conversation said that they were not kept beyond 8 years? Aren't the arrival and departure parts of I-94 kept together? I know that arrival records are kept indefinitely. Has anyone had an experience with that?

Thanks!

You can try a Privacy Act request.

Why do you need this? You should have a passport stamp for a foreign entry to prove the date of U.S. departure.

Unfortunately, the passport was stamped upon the entry, but NOT when exiting the country. The departure forms was removed from the passport, though.

Do you have an entry stamp of the country you went to (your home country?) when you left the US?

My parents had a problem with I-94s once. They turned theirs in upon departure but there was no record of them doing so. The US Embassy in the Philippines accepted copies of their passport pages with the stamp of their re-entry into the Philippines, along with copies of their plane tickets and boarding passes.
