Is that the same Hotel where every morning they have the ritual of the ducks marching in and hopping in the pond?

I saw that a few times on TV- it is so sweet!!!

What a friggin moron to do something like that!!

Ive stayed in that hotel a few times, and yes, its amazing to see the ducks in the morning they are adorable.

Totally different then walking into a hotel, ripping the head off and announcing hes hungry and will eat the duck

Didn't Ozzy Osbourne do something like this (biting head of a bat on stage and cutting a chicken's head off with a samurai sword. That guy clearly isn't all there - but dangerous....? I dunno...

People were more outraged with his urinating on the Alamo than anything to do with the above.

People eat live fish right from the tank. Personally I think that’s barbaric – but I’m not sure I want to seem them sent to jail for it. Seems this is really all about context than anything else – cruelty is ok if its couched in the right terms.

Apparently, according to OO, someone threw it on stage during a performance...he thought it was fake, so he was grandstanding a bit...and only knew it was real once blood started pouring from his mouth after biting the head off...

Like I said in my first post on this topic, if you can kill, maim or inflict pain on an animal for fun then you have the capability to do the same to humans. Psychologists have done tests to prove this theory hence the fact that it is a punishable crime in law.

You're going to come to my house, kill my cat, and then abuse me with non-sequiturs? Heaven forfend. Read again what I wrote: I believe the guy should be punished, but I think jail time is excessive. Especially since if the guy is a Hannibal Lector in training, I'm sure he's going to learn the milk of human kindness in prison.

Psychologists have found a link between lack of empathy towards animals and the ability to kill human beings. But note that's not the same as just killing an animal. We don't arrest hunters or bug exterminators or people who work in slaughterhouses.

So he'd have to be killing the duck for fun. I'm not so sure that's what's going on here, because it really looks to me like a drunk guy not wondering (if the ducks are still screaming, Clarice) how best to cause an animal pain but making a joke and picking up a duck by its head. The traditional (and humane) way of killing a fowl is to snap its neck, but I don't think the guy even meant to do that.

So basically, we have ducks whose heads do not stay on well and drunk guys trying to pick them up by their heads.

Beheading ducks is not ok, and using the 'I was drunk so I didn't know what I was doing' argument doesn't wash.

However, while there is provision within the law to sentence this guy to jail time, I would be surprised and rather shocked if he gets any once this goes to trial.

I would imagine, as with all things, his intent at the time of the action will be taken into account and I suspect that it will be argued that his intent was not an act of cruelty, but some kind of 'look at me I am going to shock you' thing.

Still, why didn't the security guys do anything except watch him do it? Is it a case of they were taken by surprise and couldn't believe what they were seeing until it was too late to act? If so, I am thinking more training...

Slitting the throat of an animal, cutting it's head off, smacking it with a cleaver to stun it or chop it up for sushi while live, or steaming something live are all prepping and cooking techniques.

That duck didn't suffer if it's head was snapped quick. I'd fine the guy and make him work in an animal shelter for a few hundred hours and have him seek treatment for alcoholism.
