DS 230 sent but still not recieved

Hi everyone,

I spoke to someone at NVC on Friday and they said that my DS230 was sent the first week of September but I still havent recieved it!!!! What should I do now? Just to clarify, I'm Canadian and I am applying for a IR1 visa through Montreal. Can I use James' shortcuts to send it anyway? Has anyone in my spot got any advice?

Timeline CR-1/IR-1

03/01/2007- Mailed I130 to Vermont

03/06/2007- NOA1

06/06/2007-NOA2 APPROVED!!! Case Moved to NVC

O7/25/2007- Mailed in I864 Bill and Choice of Agent to NVC

08/06/2007-I864 forms were generated

08/17/2007-recieved and sent in I864 forms via priority post

08/06/2007-IV Bill was generated

08/18/2007-IV Bill was recieved

08/18/2007-IV Bill sent back via Priority Post

09/08/2007- recieved RFE for I864

09/10/2007- sent checklist for I864 back to NVC with further info

09/17/2007- NVC recieves the checklist for RFE

09/25/2007-recieved DS230 package from NVC

09/26/2007-NVC sends another RFE (AHHHH!!!)

09/27/2007- phone NVC and find out that the RFE is for my DS230...relief.

10/03/2007-sent DS230 via priority post

10/05/2007-DS230 is delivered to NVC

10/10/2007-DS230 is entered into the system

10/25/2007-Recieved RFE for DS230

10/31/2007-Returned RFE and new Police Report vis Priority Post

11/28/2007-CASE COMPLETE AT NVC

02/22/2008-Interview Montreal - APPROVED!!!

03/04/2008- Visa Arrives 11 days after interview.

03/05/2008- POE Toronto Pearson Airport

If NVC did confirm with you it has already been sent out and that you are comfortable with using JSC, I suggest that you go ahead and do so. Anyone who uses JSC need not to wait for the DS230 to arrive in snail mail.

This is from JSC:

To find out whether NVC is now requiring more for your country, go to http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3176.html Select your embassy post from the drop-down menu and click on Request Instructions. On the page you are "directed" to, click on "Download all the immigrant visa instructions on [standard/Appointment] NVC Processing Post]." If your embassy/country is Standard, you still only have to send in the passport bio page with the DS-230 Part I. If Appointment, however, read the instructions carefully and note that you will have to send in both DS-203 Parts I and II as well as a bunch of additional docs such as birth, marriage, divorce, and police certificates, all of which must be translated into English for the NVC. (Hence, the need for starting early to round these things up!)

Hi schmelle,

I would recommend you go ahead and use James's shortcuts too. I spoke with NVC and they said they mailed out my DS-230 on the 20th of August, I received it around Sept 7th I think it was - it was postmarked September 4th.

So basically it was produced on August 20th (the enclosed instructions etc. were dated August 20th) but it took them 2 weeks to actually mail it.

It wouldn't let me edit the last post but wanted to add one other thing:

The link that Randy and Rina provided is the link they send you with the DS-230 instructions, as you probably already know, for Montreal you have to include all the relevant documents mentioned in the instructions on that page - and yes, parts 1 and 2 are sent back as well.

Feb 4,2007 - I-130 accepted > Get USCIS case Number NOA1.

May 8 ,2007- GET NVC Case Number > NOA2.

June 16 ,2007- Get Order from NVC to pay 70$.

July 2 ,2007- Get DS-3032 in India.

July 7,2007 - DS-3032 choice of address agent entered in NVC.

July 14 ,2007- Get I-864.

July 18 ,2007- I-864 Enters NVC.

July 29 ,2007- Get Order to Pay 380$ fee.

Aug 3 ,2007- 380$ Fee Reached St Louis.

Aug 25,2007 - NVC & St Louis People receive photocopy of my payment with USPS receipt.

After WAITING for 37 days.

Sept 10,2007 - 380$ fee encashed.

Sept 24,2007 - Receive DS-230 in Mail.

Sept 25,2007 - DS-230 despatched.

Sept 26,2007- DS-230 Delivered.

Oct 1,2007 - NVC has DS-230.

Oct 12, 2007 - DS-230 Reviewed. Case Complete

Oct 16, 2007 - Case at Embassy.

Oct 25, 2007- Interview Letter Despatched from Embassy.

Nov 3, 2007 - Recieved Interview Letter.

Dec 1, 2007 - Medical Exam .

Jan 16 - I am in USA

April 15 2008 - Get my Drivers License.

I-751 Lifting Conditions at California Service Center

November 12, 2009 - I-751 Sent via USPS Express Mail

November 13, 2009 - Receipt of I-1751 Fee

November 20, 2009 - Arrested on Domestic Battery(Had argument with wife)

December 18, 2009 - Biometrics Completed at 9 am.

January 13, 2010 - Receive I-797E Notice for more evidence

February 16, 2010 - Mail reaches Californa Service Center( Next day of Preseidents Day)

February 19, 2010 - Card Production Ordered. Status now IR1

You have to submit either ORIGINAL or CERTIFIED TRUE COPY, not just any ordinary photocopy of the documents. Make sure that all documents must have its translation attached to the document.
