AOS 485 - Certified Marriage Certificate? 4 Passport Photos? Sealed I-693?

Hey everyone,

We're finally putting our AOS packet together, and I just had a few questions.

1. Do we have to submit a certified copy of the marriage certificate, or just a regular copy?

2. Should we include 4 passport-sized photos if we're also submitting an I-765 Application for Employment Authorization?

3. Does the I-693A Vaccination Supplement have to be submitted in a sealed envelope? The doctor gave me 2 copies, one sealed and one not, but since I haven't seen what's inside the sealed envelope, I'd feel more comfortable submitting a regular copy if that's allowed.

Thanks all!!!

<<1. Do we have to submit a certified copy of the marriage certificate, or just a regular copy?>>

Send a certified copy. (Most people pay for more than one certified copy from the county clerk's office, and send in one of them with the AOS packet.)

<<2. Should we include 4 passport-sized photos if we're also submitting an I-765 Application for Employment Authorization?>>

Yes, send 4 photos. You can make the EAD Application separate and attach two photos to that packet, and two photos to the AOS packet (both sent in same envelope to same address, of course).

<<3. Does the I-693A Vaccination Supplement have to be submitted in a sealed envelope?>>

Yes, the doc put the same thing in the sealed envelope and the loose copy. Send in the sealed envelope, as the instructions say.

Good luck for a speedy approval!

Hi,

I just submitted a regular photocopy of my marriage certificate. I didn't have any problems.

Yes, you need to include 4 passport-sized photographs if also submitting I-765 Application for Employment Authorization.

2 passport photos attached to the EAD application & 2 passport photos attached to the AOS application, both in the same envelope.

You need to submit the sealed copy of the I-693A, that the CS gave you, a regular copy won't be accepted. Follow the instructions.

Good Luck

A photocopy of the marriage certificate will do. That's stated on the website of CIS. If they want to see an original, they will ask for it, but they shouldn't need to.

They'll ask to see the certified copy at the interview.

Mail a photocopy, it will suffice.

I never send originals! The Civil surgeon should seal the supplemental and you should mail it that way. Good luck

We sent in a certified copy - meaning it just had the raised seal on it (and only cost $2.50). The I-693A comes in a sealed envelope, but the CS should give you a copy - we got one.

As far as pics...my hubby sent 4 - 2 for AOS and 2 for EAD.

Good luck.
