w2s instead of tax transcript

is it okay to bring w2s during the interview for k1 visa instead of income tax returns as far of the affidavit of support is concerned?

Yes - to be clear, you mean to bring W-2s and any other supporting documents (1099s, schedules, etc) along with copies of tax returns correct? :thumbs:

yes my fiance said that since he doesnt gets a pay stub (hes in the military) he just have to print his w2s along with his Leave and earnings statement and other supporting documents, weve been debating coz i said get an actual tax records but he said w2s are part of income tax..im not positive if hes right so i asked the question ;)

I would suggest that tax returns or tax transcripts are very important. That is what the embassy in Moscow wanted.

Tax transcripts are free and if you use them you won't need to bother with the W-2s.

I brought w/ me what the accountant gave me (copy of my taxes), W2s, pay stubs, and a letter from employer.

11/2004 - Met in Brazil

09/2006 - Apply for K1

03/2007 - K1 approved

04/2007 - Apply for AOS & EAD

07/2007 - EAD approved

01/2008 - Conditional Residency approved

11/2009 - Apply to remove conditions

02/2010 - Permanent Residency approved

11/2010 - Apply for Citizenship

03/2011 - Citizenship approved

07/2011 - Moved back to Brazil

You should also include the actual tax return. W2's are part of a tax return, not a substitute for it. A tax transcript replaces both the return and W2's and/or earnings statement.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
