LONDON CR1 VS ISLAMABAD K-3

Hi Vjs,

I have been living in the UK for the past 5 years and we applied for both K-3 and CR-1. The K3 is going through Islamabad embassy in Pakistan (since we got married in Pakistan) and the CR-1 is going through the London embassy. My case was sent to the London embassy on September 19, 2007 and I am waiting for an interview date from them. Today I got a packet from Islamabad which says that they have scheduled my K3 visa interview for November 20, 2007.

I want to go through with the CR-1 visa because it has more benefits and also I don’t have any plans to go to Pakistan any time soon. What should I do now? Should I contact the Islamabad embassy to cancel the K3 or should I keep it as a backup? Would this have any affect on getting an interview date from the London embassy?

06/25/07 - Form DS-3032 (Choice of Agent) & AoS bill generated.

06/27/07 - E-mailed choice of agent using James' shortcut.

07/03/07 - Mailed AOS bill via overnight mail using James' shortcut.

07/11/07 - NVC e-mails back accepting Choice of Agent

07/13/07 - IV bill generated.

07/16/07 - Received IV bill via snail mail

07/18/07 - Mailed IV bill back via overnight mail.

07/20/07 - I-864 received via snail mail

07/23/07 - Mailed I-864 via overnight mail.

07/28/07 - Payment for IV bill entered into the system

08/06/07 - DS-230 generated.

08/15/07 - Received DS-230 coversheet via snail mail.

08/24/07 - Mailed DS-230 packet to NVC via overnight mail (didn't use James' shortcuts).

08/29/07 - DS-230 info entered in NVC's system.

09/11/07 - CASE COMPLETED!!! THANK GOD

09/19/07 - Case fwd to london embassy

Contact the US Embassy in London and be honest. Make sure everything is on the up and up and all documents are in order. Then contact the embassy in Pakistan when it makes sense and withdraw the K-3). Make sure you explain the situation to everyone so that by withdrawing your petition there they do not mess anything up.

Again just be honest and contact the London office and get their suggestion to be safe. They may even be able to contact the other embassy to arrange it for you .
