i don't miss the almost constant rain in the winter time....

 I forgot that one. It rains all the time in Moscow - summer, spring, fall... And constantly snows in winter.

Speaking on behalf of my hubby who is the beneficiary,

He doesn't miss the biting cold winters in Komotini, Greece nor does he miss the 2nd hand smoke that infuses every part of himself whenever he would go out to a cafe or restaurant. He doesn't miss the tiny old buildings or the short list of things you can eat on a daily basis compared to life in US where pretty much there is a huge variety in what you can eat depending on your mood. He doesn't miss the odd hours that the supermarkets had where he used to live in Greece (it was frustrating at times whenever he would go to the market and it would be closed at the most random times!) He does not miss the cruel stares he used to get from the older people who used to stare at him as if he were an alien since he was one the few African men who lived in this city. He does not miss his loud neighbors nor does he miss bad mobile phone network trying to place call overseas!

I just don't get Claudeth, we were just discussing this again and how she doesn't miss the taxis in the RP. I can't figure out what her problem is with taxis, she just doesn't trust the drivers. I would think that jeepneys wouldn't be missed!

I think because Taxi drivers are very rude in the Philippines, they will make all excuses so that you will pay more than their meter readings. I always had an argument with a Taxi driver whenever i rode one they really are pain in @##. So definitely i will never miss a Taxi too, and extremely excruciating traffic.

I don't miss having to rush around for groceries like crazy after work, because shops close so freakin' early in Germany.

I also don't miss all the grumpy faces around me and the constant complaining of people about how bad the situation in Germany is, right before they hop into their Mercedes/Audi/BMW.

But I sure miss the Autobahn!

For the most part, I don't miss the snow. I don't miss shoveling it and I don't miss brushing it off my car and scraping ice off my windows and then waiting for my car to heat up.

But with the hot humid days in the summer here- there were a few times I would have loved to have felt some icy cold weather.

I don't miss winter and I don't miss overcrowded public transportation.

Certainly I don't miss Russian red tape. It is everywhere.

But I miss everything else! :crying:

And it doesn't rain all the time in Moscow, as Sid says. I don't know why he always attacks Russia, he doesn't live there anymore. Let it go!

I don't miss abusive employers, congested roads & traffic, sewage and wastewater systems, arrogant & unprofessional people, really oily and MSG-soaked foods, pollution & poor garbage disposal, panhandlers who take revenge on your car, ###-kissers.

Things I don't miss in my country? Traffic and NO parking space. polluted air and water, and easily flooded street and worse traffic during that time too. The constant comment that I'm fat from my beloved friends or when I go buy cloth they say no size for me  That includes shoes since I wear a 9 / 10 it's hard to find shoes in Thailand my size.

I miss everything else though. Especially FOOD!!!!!!!! (I'm bored of food here already  ) and beautiful beaches :crying:

I don't miss the traffic congestion of anywhere really in the south of England, the unpredictable weather, the greyness, the smaller roads, the houses, 17.5 % sales tax. I do miss the NHS, pubs, bacon, the fact that sales tax isn't included in the price you see, a working public transport.

I just think that now I have a better quality of life.

After two years here I still miss everything except the weather - especially fall and winter - much nicer here.

Other than that - we are still moving to Poland as soon as we hit the lottery :jest:

Right now I am living in my home country Finland, but when I lived abroad I didn't miss

- the 8 am commuter buss in the winter: gray jackets, gray faces, no one says a word, everyone looks like someone they loved just died --- I just want to turn the music up and MAKE EVERYONE DANCE FOR THEIR LIVES!!

- the fact that I don't know a single Finn who knows their neighbours, although it's very common to live in apartment buildings, surrounded by people

- just the general "I'll just mind my own business, who cares if someone needs help, it might be uncomfortable for me to go there and do something" -attitude (my friend fell on an icy street and broke her ankle, NO ONE stopped to help though she couldn't even stand)

But I do miss

- the midnight sun in June

- the 20 hours of darkness / day around Christmas, Christmas just ain't Christmas without lots of snow and candles

- the let's get straight to business -mentality, we don't need or want to use small talk and we are very very very informal which suits me perfect (I have offended Americans numerous times because of this... I'm learning...)

6408 kilometres.

My wife has been here for 6 months now. The main thing that she doesn't miss about Thailand is the HEAT!!! She's really enjoying the cool Autumn season here in Michigan, and the turning of the leaves ;)

She's never seen snow though...so she'll probably soon be shocked by how cold it will be soon, and how much snow! <haha>

Peace to all,

Mark-N-Aam

Maybe not. My Jamaican took to the winter nicely. The first snowfall, he woke me at 3 a.m. to tell me it was snowing. I said, yah, it will still be snowing at 6 a.m. too! He then ran outside to dance in the snow and make snow angels.
