Ok I was talking to one of my customers last night (I work at a coffee shop) and he told me that his now fiancee is going to get transfered to the US Army's branch in Australia, they will be getting married (in the US) before she leaves but he was wondering if he could maybe get a job with the Australian Police force... since he is a cop here.

I told him I'd look into it for him, and I've googled it but I can't find anything so though someone on VJ might be able to help me

Thanks Heaps

Okay there are two levels of police there.

  • Australian Federal Police
  • State Police.
The police are managed by the state and not each county there. For the state police all he would need to do is look at their website.

http://www.police.vic.gov.au/content.asp?Document_ID=5 - Victoria Police (Melborune)

http://www.police.nsw.gov.au/recruitment - NSW Police (Sydney)

http://www.police.qld.gov.au/join/recruitment/ - Queensland (Brisbane)

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Gooooo Charles!!!

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

I'm not a hypocrite, then again I don't think I have to explain EVERY post I make to you. I just can't believe you are following me around different forums (really I can't believe it) - you will get to know me as you follow me around though and then you will understand what I mean when I post something so it's all good

trust me, you ain't that important to follow around, in fact the only reason i can think of anyone might follow you is out of sheer curiosity of what disaster will occur next in your wake.

i saw the post from dev about the canada ot thread in another ot thread, so i dropped by there again (yes i've been there before - and before you stroke your ego amongst other things, my being there before had nothing to do with you) and while there i saw your post. since i don't have alzheimer's and today you posted in ot it seemed odd that you'd post one day you're staying in the canada forum but the next day you're in ot. just thought it was worth pointing out :D

I was a Peeler (cop) in England before coming to the States. Western Australia Police have been actively recruiting English and Welsh Officers for several years with a guarantee that they'll receive citizenship in Oz in return for so many years service. Next year they aim to recruit 500 British Officers. I don't think the program applies to coppers from other nations but it might be worth checking out.

Western Australia is not the only service to have actively recruited in the UK, New South Wales and Queensland have sent representatives over in recent years, not to mention forces from Canada and New Zealand doing the same thing. They are doing this because they value the training that English and Welsh Bobbies receive plus they know how disenchanted English and Welsh cops are with the state of policing in England and Wales. Quite frankly the training US Police Officers receive, in some cases, is way below the level British Officers get.

I don't think your US citizen friend would qualify because of the residency requirements. The same situation applies here in the States, I've looked into becoming a copper here and it just isn't possible for non-citizens. Ironic really because I could join the US Army and be deployed to hostile environments where I may potentially have to kill someone but I wouldn't be allowed to arrest anyone in the States as a non-citizen. Hmmn... what does that tell you?

Just checked out Western Australia Police recruitment criteria. An applicant for a Police Officer post must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency in Australia.

Here's the link -

http://www.stepforward.wa.gov.au/application-criteria.php

I've also looked at South Australia Police and the requirements are the same there too -

http://www.sapolice.sa.gov.au/sapol/career...equirements.jsp

Your friend could always look into support staff roles, ie; working for the Police but not as an Officer.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Actually, www.Officer.com has more of an international following so the question would be better asked there but whatever.

I guess as a former Officer I know nothing then and the answers I provided were completely irrelevant  .
