As many had been getting the visa and flying to their final destination. I was just curious to know what others will miss about the PI not to mention the loved ones since that is given. I am sure i'll miss the food (Sinigang,Bagoong, Adobo etc.), the SPA (which is very affordable), lifestyle (since we can afford the luxury of house helpers and such here). Oh well, just curious though if others share the same things :D Care to share?

Family, FOOD and having help around the house. I try to cook Filipino food as often as I can but there are just some things we can't get here ...not fresh anyway. I mostly miss the fruits ... lanzones, "real" bananas, jackfruit, mangosteen, rambutan, marang .. and many more.

I just got here more than 2 months ago and so far, I have missed so many things already. I miss my family, Jollibee (definitely!), all kinds of local fruits that we can only have there in PI, dinuguan, real fresh tilapia fish since we can only buy frozen ones at Wal-Mart and a lot more. There are, definitely, some sacrifices to make in pursuing your dream here in US. :crying: But oh well, as long as I'm here with my husband, I can live without those things. On my trip back to PI, I'll definitely smuggle some seeds of our local fruits and vegetables and try to grow them in our backyard. Who knows, I'll make it big and sell some produce to my fellow kababayan. Anyone wants to place an order this early?:lol: Latundan, lanzones, mangga (with free bagoong) and santol will be amongst my future harvest. B) B)

I miss my pets, my car, the fiesta's, the simbang-gabi's, dining out with co-workers on payday who are also your true friends outside of work. I miss doing the "mano" gesture (introduced this to my in-laws), the freshest seafoods, eating out in picnics on Sundays, the beach, the Filipino smiles, and the leche flan.

Even if I am anxiuosly waiting to fly to be with the man that I want to spend the rest of my life with and though I can live without those things that I'll miss, still I can't help the thought that soon I will be leaving PI. On the other hand, I definitely know that with my husband everything will be handled just fine. Indeed, I share the same feelings with ya'll. Truly, I will miss fresh seafoods, fresh local fruits especially mangoes, not quite sure if dallas has Philippine Mangoes (by the way Mae the lanzones festival is fast approaching), the manner of asking the hands of elderly (mano) as a sign of respect, the gimiks, warm people and yah the Simbang Gabi since Christmas is coming close. Ohhhhh :( Sad and happy because if God permits then this would be my first Christmas away from my family and happy because this would be the FIRST CHRISTMAS with my husband. I am really enjoying reading all your stories. Thank you for taking the time to post your replies!God bless us all! Advance Merry christmas!!!

here in NY you can get all the food, fruits, vegetables and all that, there is a large community of Filipinos here that every Friday night at around 6-7PM you see them crossing the streets to go to their neighbors' houses just to give food ..however, there is no place like the Philippines!

We found a little Filipino grocery store where Claudeth can get her favorite rice and it is actually about one fourth what it costs in the grocery stores. She bought 50 pounds  That should be good for a couple of weeks
