We are in the Vancouver Consular region. We have been married 27 years and need to find the quickest way to immigrate as possible as my wife needs to return home to care for her parents, we would prefer to go together, but she is an US citizen and can go anytime. When we receive the I-797 receipt ( in the next couple of weeks), would we be quicker then to move to a K3 knowing it will eventually go through Vancouver, or to just keep on with the IR1 through Montreal since it is a DCF?? I have already read the info about Montreal being slow, but is it slower than the K3 getting transfered etc.

Opinions anyone?

DCF is traditionally faster but there last year it grounded to a halt. It does look like it is back on track though based on someone's recent DCF timeline: http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profil...l=&id=35079

Curious though, did you file the I-130 at a consulate in Canada or to USCIS in the U.S.? If you filed in it to USCIS in the U.S., I'm not sure if you can switch to DCF but hopefully someone will come along with more info on that.

We filed at the consulate in Calgary, and the file was sent from there directly to Montreal two weeks ago. So we should be in the DCF stream. Thanks for the info.

Oh lucky! Yeah, it should hopefully not take too long for DCF. I'd probably stick with that because it looks like Montreal is back on track for DCF.

Good luck! :)
