This is my second Ramadan fasting with my hubby, the first with us on the same continent. Since our schedules tend to be so hectic, I thought it might be fun to share some unusual places and ways we've broken the fast.

As I said in another thread, on Thursday evening my husband went to work with me while I did some realtime stuff during a TV broadcast, and he fed me since I needed my hands on the keyboard. A few days ago, we spent a couple of hours at the lake fishing, caught nothing, watched the sun go down, and then ate dates and drank soda (and water :D ) in the car. That was our second Iftar in the car. Another day, my husband played soccer until the sun went down. We took some dates along and shared them with a couple of his friends who were fasting.

I worried that this time of year might be especially nostalgic for my husband and that I wouldn't know how to help him make it special. But he has been very open about what he needs and would like. He has cooked harira a couple of times, and I think I may finally get it right the next time I make it (like tomorrow). Setting a pretty table (unless we're in the car!) has been fun, and I've even enjoyed waking him up at dark o'clock to drink water. We're starting to build our own traditions. So it's not "just like Morocco," and that's fine.

Hachemi is a youth soccer referee. He does 2 games on Tuesday and Thursday nights. The first one starts at 6pm and the second one at 7pm. I take a cooler with water and gatoraide, some dates and fruit. Between games he runs to the sideline where I am and breaks fast. They are usually waiting on him to start the game. Then he runs to the middle of the field and blows the whistle. Then between quarters he will run over to eat some fruit and drink the gatoraide. I know everyone is wondering what the heck he is doing.

Like I said before the Costco parking lot with a coke and a croissant while loading groceries was classic. Last night we went to a Japanese restaurant and our food hadn't come yet so he drank his coke and ate part of a cookie I brought him in case he had nothing else to eat.

Last night - warm water and yoghurt covered raisins from my purse while sitting in traffic. A small plane crashed on the highway and I was stuck there for quite awhile

LOL... yeah it kinda sucked. I ended up pulling off the highways and main streets as soon as possible after Maghrib for some real food and took a break from the traffic with a book.
