Banning Trolls at VJ

I'd like to know if there is a process of banning accounts from VJ. Recently there was a ridiculous thread that went to several pages and the author kept trolling and trolling. After a few days they pretty much said they were trolling, laughed at the people who replied seriously, then disappeared. Now they are back posting, so obviously their account was either suspended a few days or they just didn't bother to post.

Why should mods or the site admin care?

1) These accounts have time lines and other data that are false and skew estimates for other people.

2) Trolls are seeking attention and don't care if it is negative attention as long as others pay attention. This means they derail thread topics, incite others to react, and defeat the purpose of the original topic or is becomes a growing pointless thread for the amusement of the troll.

3) People here who want to help may waste time on the troll by making honest suggestions and offering advice when they could be helping someone else who truly needs it.

4) Trolls breed more trolls

5) People may know the best way to kill a troll is to ignore it, but many others don't.

I don't think VJ as a site is lacking visitors. I'm also pretty sure there are tons of people who read things here who are not registered to post, but find this place a good resource.

If the mods and site admin start banning trolls then new ones are less inclined to start up.

Yes trools are allowed..... but dont have a go at someone who attacks you or you will get banned.... strange but appears true..

As a mod I can only suspend accounts of obvious trolls and I can confirm I do it quite alot.

If as a mod you can't outright ban, perhaps suspending, then telling the site admin why the account should be banned would be one possible procedure.

and yet he gets to return to troll more! Somehow making fake posts & trolling, even when reported, is not bannable. Yet calling someone out on a timeline is.
