Well in case anyone has ever thought of trying it, they came by this morning and did the front window, looks grand so far.

Basically they drill a hole in the window and put in a tiny vent (this was a big window so 4 holes and 4 vents). They say it can take up to 12 weeks for the window to be completely dry.

Anyway the nice thing is they have a 10 year guarantee and if it doesn't work for whatever reason you can either have your money refunded or they will put whatever you paid towards a new window.

Cost for 56" by 68" window - $ 418.70 (including G.S.T.)

sounds weird to me but every time i've found my windows fogging up, it means i need to clean the inside of them. i have seen something in euope that works to prevent fog too, some cloth treated with some chemical. maybe some of our vj germans can tell us more.

In Canada we have double paned argon filled windows (generally), so what happens sometimes is that moisture gets trapped between the panes (usually, they say, from just the heat/cold/heat/cold) - looks bad!

Anyway, after they drill the holes they wash out the area between the panes and then do the venting - what an improvement! Apparently the windows still have a fairly good "R" rating even with the venting.
