Its been almost 4 months since i filed my AOS, not received an interview date yet. One IO i spoke to when i called USCIS about 2 weeks ago advised me to make an infopass appt and inquire about when i'd likely be scheduled for an interview. I made an infopass appt for this coming tuesday Sept 25th. I called USCIS again yesterday and mentioned about having made an infopass appt, the IO i spoke to told me not to even bother going, that i would be wasting my time. That i would be sent out an interview date when my local office got around to it.

Even though my namecheck is back, my interview has not been scheduled yet. What's the problem, have they maybe somehow lost all my other files relating to my case??? As far as i know my approved I-130 case is still sitting at NVC since sept last year. My POE documents are probably still in Charlotte, NC gathering dust!!

Do i keep my infopass appt?

Or do i just have to sit and wait for my local office to get off their backsides and send out an interview date.?

You're within normal processing times though ... you can do an inquiry but I don't think it'll go very far. Doesn't hurt though.

Hey, I was in the same situation as you. My last update was June 12th and it said my case was still at that National Benefits Center. Someone at my Congressman's office checked and they were told my case was "Interview Ready" and just waiting to be scheduled for an interview. In my area they are currently interviewing the cases filed in Dec 2006, so we have a little bit of a wait. So I think just because your case is still at the NBC doesn't mean that its not in the line for an interview. Probably the most you'll get out of an infopass is being told that your case is waiting for an interview, but if you have the time it doesn't hurt to ask.

P.S. Just wanted to add I did not contact my congressman to inquire about the status. I had been in contact with them since we got an RFE for the medical exam back in May. They followed up on their own, which was really helpful of them :-)

That is so strange that you mentioned this about your congressman's office. I just received an email from my congressman's aide, asking me for my receipt number for my AOS application. She is going to contact them to find out the status of my case and what the next steps will be....whether an interview date will be scheduled or a transfer to CSC.....i'm thinking an interview date.

I had been in contact with my congressman's office regarding my EAD. I never thought that they would follow up on my AOS application too. :D

Thanks Chris & and i hope you hear something soon as well

Thanks MariDane for the congratulations! I know how that four month mark is, especially when everyone else is getting interview date letters. But, I think if the usual wait time is six months for your local office, you should be fine.

I agree with the other Vjers - if you have the infopass appt., it doesn't hurt to go see what is going on - you may also get to hear about your FBI name check status...

Good news MariaDane, that you got word from your Congressman's office; maybe you will be speeded ahead now! And yes, I would keep the infopass appointment if I were you, doesn't hurt and at least shows you are proactive about the whole thing.

Good luck for progress on your case too, chris4336!
