May-be the US should take an example in Mexico and provide free maps and guides for the travel North. Don't stop the travelers...

hi canada. welcome to our world.

If more people lived in states that are plagued with this problem they we see the ture negative impact of illegal immigration, And our northern neighbors

are seeing it now,

When they go squat in your backyard it is not so easy to advocate illegal Alien invasion.

Well Canada step up to the plate with collective cooperative enforcement or be ready to feel the health care crunch USA is feeling.

Oh Canada

May-be the US should take an example in Mexico and provide free maps and guides for the travel North. Don't stop the travelers...

J/k. lol

Now that sopunds like a great program they can cross freely into our border via greyhound bus and earna 1 way trip across the Canadian Border

where did you get that? all that was said is " can't wait to see how understanding & sympathetic canadians are in a couple years." no bleeding heart or idiots.

i wonder just how long it will take canada's medical care program to crash and burn if the illegals continue crossing into canada.

This is where I got it. I guess I don't see the humour in this. When 180 people show up in a small town and are given shelter and social services which are indeed a drain on the economy of a town and the country in general, who are not really refugees (from what little we have been told), it's just not funny to me.

The fact that you can't see that what some of you have said in general is insulting to Canada/Canadians (in my opinion) - well that's a whole other thread.

180??? that's a drop in the bucket. You should easily accomodate at least 2,000,000 more.

try 5- 10 million

Stop reading stuff that isn't there (& calling people out on their own speculations). Geez.

devilette,

When I need your assistance on how I should read or interpret a statement, whether or not I call people out on their speculations (in an off topic forum no less) I'll let you know.

I would point out that it isn't 'illegals crossing into Canada', but 'people entitled to benefits while LEGALLY seeking refugee status.' Slightly different problem.

While Canada may not want to, it's easy enough to change the law to say that people with pending refugee claims aren't entitled to public benefits.

It's funny, but whenever we pass a law like that here we get the outcry of how mean we are. We even get judges that overturn laws voted on by the people. (California prop 187 I think) I wonder if the same will happen in Canada a few years from now if the illegals go north.

I'm just pointing out that I don't think this will turn out to be a huge incentive. Not more than the ability to make the equivalent of a six-figure salary in the States. I think economics is driving most illegal immigration, not free public benefits.

Another way to solve this problem would be to process asylum applications faster, so it's not 14 months waiting.

And again, they're not in Canada illegally. Someone is not automatically illegal because they're a migrant Mexican worker. They might be in the U.S. illegally and in Canada legally. As is the case here.
