Hello again, everyone. I've searched this lovely website and all the guides but did not stumble upon the answer to this question.

Fiance' is arriving in 10 days and I am putting the final red tape requirements together for the I-485 adjustment of status. It appears a police report is required however she gave the origional to the US Embassy folks with the fiance' visa application many months ago.

Does anyone happen to know if that report is inside the mysterious 'packet' she was given by the embassy? If so, will it be good enough even though it was done in March? What all is in the mysterious packet? Are there any documents that shall be needed for the I-485?

Getting a police report in Finland is a rather involved process and time grows short.

No

Wont be needing another police report unless their is something in their that might need explanation.

The package will contain her complete file from the consulate. The only thing that she will need is a copy of her vaccination supplement to transcribe here with a civil surgeon. If possible get a copy of the full medical although in most cases this is not necessary but nice to have anyway. The paper files sometimes have a way of disappearing once they hit US soil.

Thank you K&J.

Do you suppose that vaccination suppliment is in the packet, too? I don't think she made copies of the medical exam, either. Will the customs dude take the whole thing from her at the airport?

Yep immigration at the POE will keep the entire package. If possible see if you can get a hold of your vaccination supplement from the Doctor who originally did it over seas as you wont be able to get a copy from the POE. If she has vaccination records other than the supplement that will work too... otherwise it will mean redoing the MMR, TD and varicella again or a titre test.

If immigration at the point of entry is going to keep the packet but the I-485 instructions say to provide a copy of the police report...

Is it safe to assume that the packet will go to Chicago where I'm sending the I-485 and that they will accept the police report in the packet?

Where does it say they need a police report? Better reread those instructions. I never saw that, and we have completed AOS. I don't recall anyone sending a police report.

You do not need a Police report to do AOS.... you will need a copy of her vaccination history so that you can take that to a civil surgeon and get the I-693a (vaccination Suppliment) completed and sealed in an envelope... you include that with your AOS packet...

Thank you, Nia and Neon, both for your responses.

I went back to the instructions http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-485instr.pdf and on page three it talks about criminal history. I assumed all that meant they wanted another report to prove she hasn't become an international terrorist or a woman of negotiable affections between now and last March. However, I see a lot of "if's" in there so maybe I'm just so terrified of INS, I read the worst into everything.

Thanks again!

All your paperwork from the embassy was in that packet. Make sure that you see a civil surgeon for the I-693A and shop around, the prices can very alot. Good luck
