MY WIFE HAS MENTAL DISORDER

Hello Everyone,

Oh thank God i found this website i have been reading through many threads i see different people post their problem here so i thought i could post mine here too.

I got here on a K3 visa it just about a week since i got here when i met my wife(USC) about 2004 we married she told me she has some kind of depression in her, what i use to know is that depression is you cry whenever you are not happy or something of that nature.

For the past few days i have been here i came to find out that she has some kind of mental disorder and she is taking medication for it not only that she has so many secret around her about her health just this morning i came just i came to find out that she has a stomach virus she say i never heard stomach virus in entire whole life and sometimes she just starts crying for no reason when i ask her what is making her cry she will say she don't know plus sometimes she tells me that she hear voices, i asked what kind of voices do you hear she will always say she don't....As the day goes by i keep discovering one thing or the othe about her, please help me i so scared that i might get infected with one of her health problems(Diseases)..

Like i said i just got here going to a week now, I dont have EAD nor have a filed for AOS i only have my K3 visa and the I-94 in passport i really dont know what do to i am from Nigeria i so so scared that my health is in danger .....PLEASE GUYS HELP ME OUT WHAT SHOULD I DO. I am actually thinking of running away from here i have a friend in florida whom i can stay with but the point is if i run away from here how do i file for EAD and AOS is it possible to do that without my wife??

Please VJers help me before i kill myself.

Depression is not contagious. She just needs help and support. if you're being honest then remain strong and help her get the help she needs.

It's not a joke i am dead serious a normal person wont just sit up there and start crying for no reason and hear voices plus i saw her medical report it was stated on there...She was refered to state hospital psycithric unit.....

Like Forever in Love says depression is not contagious i know that if it were only that i would not have problem handling that but mental problem is something else....Please guys what do i need to do fast as my health and my life is in danger..

We met 2004 and married 2005 the we was denied the K1 back then in 2005 that's why it took me this long to get here....Although she has been in Nigeria about 2times plus we talk on the phone daily and on Y!M, how could i have found out that she has some psycho problem.

How is your life or health in danger? You've acknowledged that you understand that depression isn't contagious. Neither is something more serious like schizophrenia. If you love her and you're honest, you will help her get help. It would have been better if she had been more up front about her problems, but I don't see how this could be a case where you should freak out and bail after just a week if you have a real realtionship with her.

A stomach virus is nothing, everyone will have one at least once and most dont even get noticed. You know, from reading your post you do not seem sympathetic to your wife at all and where you should be helping her, she was obviously honest in telling you that she suffers depression, You should be talking to her and her health care physicians.

Why do I get the feeling that you just want an excuse to run off to your "friend" in Florida.

You wont be able to do squat without your wife in regards to AOS.

A lot of people with depression have been in psychiatric units. Depression IS a mental problem, so it sucks for you if you didn't realize that. I've been taking medication for depression for almost 6 years, and it's not contagious (which you say you know but you're afraid you'll get afflicted with her health problems, so obviously you aren't thinking straight). And every single person I know has had multiple stomach viruses in their lives - why do you think people throw up for no reason?

It sounds to me that you don't really want to be with your wife anyway, and I'd say "in sickness and in health" but your wife may be better off without you. Maybe she's crying because her own husband can't support her - if my husband acted like you, we never would have made it past month one, because I'd have kicked him out on his ###.

You can get an EAD on K3, but no AOS - you'd have to leave the country once your K3 I-94 expires, or accumulate illegal presence - but I'm not much sure you care about being an overstay.

And far as her being up front, to me it looks like she was. She told you she had depression, it's not her fault you didn't know what that entailed.

Ya'all dont seems to understand what i am talking about , i wanna help her but the mental problem is giving me a second thought she might just wake up in the middle of the night and do something very funny like harm herself or someone around her. I really do love my wife and that is why we have came this far.

Someone please understand me here mental problem is a serious thing.. I AM AWARE OF THE DEPRESSION THING But the mental problem God! Just this morning i found out that she usually have stomach virus and that is contagious whenever she gets stomach virus she goes to the toilet and start to have headache, now as i type this messages i have been infected with the so called stomach virus.....I dont know what i am going to find out next.

Again I will tell you a stomach virus is nothing! If it gets too bad just go to the doctor and he will give antibiotics for it if needed.

You are now saying that she is going to harm either herself or you? Best to speak with her physcian's they might change her medication. Depression is a painful illness and requires alot of patience and sympathy.

Are you kidding me? She has a stomach flu and you're running away? This is ridiculous. EVERYONE GETS STOMACH VIRUSES. Everyone in my family and my friends' families have had them MANY times.

Maybe is it possible that you are confounding a stomach virus with symptoms of another condition that you might be afraid of, which could have long term effects or suggest long term illness? A stomach virus runs its course in a matter of days. Your wife may have a system that is more prone to such upsets, but it does not necessarily signal that she will be chronicly ill. Take this time to become more familiar with the common nature of stomach ailments, on the Internet. There's really nothing to fear, and the more educated you are of them should asuage any fears you already have.

I think this is a classic case of making a mountain out of a molehill. MANY people suffer from depression and take medication to treat it. A lot of those same individuals continue to have happy married lives.

Difference being their spouses love and support them no matter what 'mental disorder' they may have.
