Ok - just a couple questions about the ongoing relationship and meeting proof.

1 ) We've finished up all our copies and the total package (primary & secondary proof) totals about 80 pages. Is this too much or is it about normal for everyone - I don't want to bog down our process.

2) We included all 4 years of our relationship within this package. Should we stay within only the 2 years which is requested?

3) Can you write directly onto the primary and secondary proof copies? I though I read somewhere that post-its should be used.

thanks a bunch,

Hmmm, I´ve heard of small and big packages, and I´ve heard comments recomending both big and small packages, but you don´t have to overdo the ongoing relationship proof, better overproof the meeting in the last 2 years part.

The 'two years' referred to at this stage is proof that you have MET in the last two years, not two years worth of proof of a relationship.

I would think that an 80 page petition is going to make it awfully slow to get approved. That's a lot of paperwork for an adjudicator to go through.

My advice to the OP? Whittle it down to about 15 pages, and even at that it's probably too much.

It's never been about quantity but quality of the evidence.

If you expect some guy/gal over the USCIS to peruse 80 pages to extract the answer to a couple of simple questions then you might be setting yourself up for a bit of a wait.

Why not single one or two circumstances whereby you can prove, without any ambiguity, that you and your S.O. have met (or live together, etc.) and go with that. Lay the evidence out piece by piece and tell a story to the adjudicator. Write a narrative that describes, in order, what each piece means.

The rest of the hurdles are simply providing documentation to prove citizenship and eligibility to marry.

I think 80 pages of evidence will be overwhelming to the officer going through your file ...

We had only (1) picture of us together in Las Vegas (I would recommend more than one picture but we both hate getting our pictures taken) and then we had various boarding passes, luggage tags, receipts ect. We photocopied all evidence for one trip on one piece of paper... We then had a single page with the dates of arrival and departure for each trip ... I would think 10-15 pages is more than enough ...

Save the rest of the evidence for your interview ...

I also agree with Kaydee. While having plenty of evidence is good, it's the quality that counts.

As for marking on the copies, I used I highlighter to highlight the parts I wanted them to be sure to see, such as dates and names.

Remember, these people process a lot of applications. The idea is to make it easy for them, not hard! :)

Good luck!

For the evidence of having met, keep that down to the last two years. The USCIS isn't going to be all that concerned about a meeting that took place three years ago. I only sent three pictures each for two of the four times we've met, and none for the third (we didn't think to take any!) we provided proof for. I didn't include proof from the first time we ever met becuase I thought the most recent three would be proof enough (also: there's only one picture from that time, and I've lost my hotel receipts and boarding passes from that trip)

For the proof of ongoing relaitonship, I'd slelect a few things from each year, instead of every single thing that has transpired. The guides say to choose a "range of dates" for things like phone records and e-mails and things.

I didn't provide all my phone records... those would have padded the it all far too much. But he provided one of his bills (that lists when each call is made and where it was made to) and I chose one of my bills from a different date which showed the same information, highlighting each phonecall that was either made to him, or received from him.

There were also two pages that showed all my texts to and from him as well. :D he's the only person I text.

The law requires that you have met personally face to face within the last two years. Anything that you send them that is outside of the two years will do nothing to get your petition approved. Make sure that you include evidence of meeting within the past two years.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

Your petition is like a puzzle -- each answer, form and shred of evidence needs to fit together to make a cohesive, obvious picture of two people who have a valid relationship and have met in the last two years.

Save the bulk (if not all) of the proof of relationship stuff for the interview.

I only sent proof we had met in the last two years. It included:

- 4 pictures

- 4 hotel receipts (from november/december 2004)

- A document provided by my State's Chess Federation saying that we had both participated in the same tournaments in 2005

- A Brazilian Federal Tax collection he got while living here (from May 2004)

- A certified copy of his passport ID page and stamps page

I sent the translations along with each document.

I hope for no RFEs.... it'd be a pain in the a*s......
