What line of the US 1040 Tax Return is used to determine the the income when Schedule C is used? Line 7 of the the Schedule C or Line 12 of the 1040?

I would like to know that myself, I have heard conflicting answers.

My friend was just approved for AOS without an interview. She included a letter with the application that she has taken full advantage of all the deductions the law allows and therefore the below poverty line income after deductions but however the total income to start with was over $30,000.

A bank letter may also help to show the income.

If someone can find a link to the regulations for self employment / deductions please post it.

Line 22 of the 1040.

Three years tax returns will be required.
