getting married in another state from where you live

would it cause any excess stress if we were to get married in a state other than our own when it comes to applying for the green card? like extra long waits for anything, having to provide something difficult to obtain, etc? we'd like to get married while we're on vacation but if it causes a hassle i won't do it.

Not a problem.

Some in California, go to Las Vegas NV to marry, you can hand carry the executed license back to the county clerks office in Las Vegas, and walk out with the marriage cert same day.

No problem. We married in Pennsylvania and reside in Connecticut.

The only hassle we had was getting the marriage certificate in a timely fashion because we returned here instead of taking it downtown ourselves. But that's not really anything to do with the location of the wedding vs. residency.

3/19/07 - Called NVC, case sent to embassy on 3/15/07

7/6/07 - VISA delivered!!!

The only problem you might have making sure you know the requirements of marriage in that state. I got married in Vegas once and that was really easy but some states have some strange requirements. :blink:
