Hmm...my fiance is half-Scot and his Dad is a full-blooded Sinclair. Surprisingly, neither of them is offensive, angry, or ginger. In fact, they're both well-educated, fine men. Though the Senior is a bit fish-crazy--ties his own flies and fishes like mad--nothing wrong with either of them. My perception of Scots has long been that they're a nation of friendly folk and genial kidders who don't take things too seriously.

In Chicago, it's the Irish who are considered offensive, angry, and ginger. *ducks* :)

06-12-07 - Alasdair's next visit, we go everywhere and do everything. :)

Sounds just like my brother, he also ties his own flies, is always on fishin hols, even makes his own bait, he has boxfulls of the stuff...his bedroom does't look like a bedroom at all - infact you'd swear you'd just walked into a fishing & tackle shop.

I'm forever kiddin around with people. I have an extremely wicked sense of humour but in a funny kind of way!!

Being part Irish myself, i do have a wild streak! :hehe:

Separated!!

Last time I went to the Scottish Highlands (and I've been a fair few times) it was full of Kiwis and Australians. Every pub, hotel and restaurant seemed to have one or two there working to earn some money. Was quite humorous when you'd go in, ask for a drink and the bartender spoke to you in a genuine Aussie accent!

Same is true in London. This is generally how they order their drinks in most pubs, "I'll have a pint of beer and a job please, mate".

Yup, a friend of mine married an Aussie that she met when he was working in a bar.

Some people think Scotland is another planet. As far as technology goes I thought I was going back to the dark ages when I arrived here in Upstate NY. No electric kettle? Well water, no city water? I was expecting people running back and forth to a well carrying buckets when I first heard of well water, lol. Scotlands a great country with great people! And I'm one of the great people!
