Stuff like what exactly? The only thing I know from reading the article is that the boy 'exposed' himself to the others...erm, newsflash, kids of that age do that kind of thing all the time but not in order to 'gratify' themselves sexually.

The other thing mentioned was that one boy was told to perform a sexual act. Again, without knowing what that 'act' was, it's difficult to be accurate, but it is possible/likely that without the 'intent' of gratification, this was simply an inappropriate role play, which should be dealt with but not in the courts.

I don't disagree that there are parents who don't know how to be parents, where I completely disagree with you is that this is widespread, that it's a common problem and that somehow society is falling apart as a result of it.

So where did he learn this stuff. Kids at 6 do not understand what a freakin sex club is without seeing it somewhere..

In reality, the word club is probably little more than a term for his gang of friends. In other words, you are putting an 'adult interpretation' on the notion of 'sex club' whereas to a six year old a sex club could be nothing more than a gang of friends who find the words, boobs, bottom, ####### etc to be amusing.

Again, context, they are six year olds, what exactly do you think their conversations about sex consisted of? What kind of person is the mother who complained that there could be no 'prosecution'? She could be speaking out of some 'religious' view of the world where any mention of sexual body parts is somehow outrageous. Seriously, the 'giggling 6 year old' is the most likely explanation judging by how this case has been handled so far.

From this one article I might wonder whether you can honestly say that this happens 'all the time' in 2007... (even had this story not been exaggerated -as it appears to be); but then again your point seems to be that it’s perfectly reasonable to seize on a few extreme news stories, propagated by a sensationalist media and use them as a justification for a sweeping tirade against parenting standards across the board.

Where exactly have I said, oh, let's turn a blind eye? My point is this, just so you all get it. The mother who wants to have the six year old prosecuted for some alleged 'harm' that came to her kid is in my opinion, behaving irrationally.

That the six year old who instigated the 'sex role play' (is there any doubt that it was more than this, or are some of you of the opinion that this six year old was getting some sexual gratification as an adult would understand it?) should be counseled as to the appropriateness of his role playing behavior is a given. However, to make this out to be some kind of 'devil six year olds indulging in Soddam and Gomorrah' behaviour is to really to have lost touch with reality.

Totally irrational conclusion from what I have said. The only thing you know, is that I don't think the world is significantly worse today than it has always been. That doesn't exactly mean everything is rosy.
