HI everyone on this fine Wednesday. I have a question...I fell down a flight of stairs and pulled about every muscle in my body. I hurt literally everywhere. I haven't taken medicine coz I don't wanna break my fast (mainly coz making it up in the end royally sucks). Should I break fast and get comfortable by way of medicine or will I get extra points if I tough it out the rest of the day? anyone know the answer? :help::help::help:

ouch

I didn't mean it in the literal sense. My husband and I use the term "extra points" when it comes to "getting more of a blessing" or stuff along those lines. Honestly, If I don't get a little bit of an "extra point" for fasting and not taking medicine to ease the pain ( choosing god over my own pain) then why do it? does that even make sense? I dunno...i Hurt too bad to care

It's really up to how much you can take Amal. On the days where I miss suhoor and don't take my meds for my arthritis I just deal since it's not like I totally can't function, I just don't particularly like to function. If I was in so much pain I couldn't move though, I would make the fast up some other time.

I'm not an expert in Islam, but I don't think you need to complete a fast if you are alot of pain. You can make the day up later. I also don't think fasting is about extra points or anything like that. Its something very personal between you and God. If you are in pain, take your meds. You out of all people should know how important it is to take your meds young lady!

the point is, there are no points.

I'm going to be 42 next Tuesday! lol. I've had Rheumatoid Arthritis for a good two years now and the doc says I probably have Lupus too but that is a harder one to diagnose. I have all the symptoms but I'm in denial sometimes about that one. lol

Hi all,

I am leaving work in two hours on my way to the airport as Jamal is going for his one month vacation back home - alone at last LOL ...

I know that he misses his family and from last year's experience - Ramadan is best done back home - he hated it here and suffered so much.

Hope that we will see some good news coming from the Casa and Cairo - long overdue.

Love always,

Dorothy

Why did he hate Ramadan here?

It was his first here and he was still fresh "off the boat", working hard (he's a carpenter) missing his family and the Ramadan spirit of Morocco. On top of everything else I am a lousy cook so it was an experience. I know that this year was much better - it's just a question of getting used to the new environment.

But who could deny him spending this special time with his family and friends. He is able to get away from work without a problem and I feel that a little time apart is always good - at least for me...but that's me...

D.

Dorothy- that makes me laugh about Hicham breaking his fast last night at the Costco parking lot with a coke and a croissant. I think that was pretty much the weirdest one so far. I can see how it can be very difficult during Ramadan here without family and friends. Hicham never worked during Ramadan so it's pretty tough being on his feet all day at a restaurant preparing food but not being able to eat or drink anything.

I hope Jamal has a good trip home!

Hey Sarah,

I know what you mean - today he almost missed the plane - he needed to break fast and have some food before boarding the flight. But he made it and I know that he will have a great time...

Take care,

D.

Isn't Ramadan a religious holiday meant for worship and reflecting on one's life? How is it someone can't do this wherever they happen to be?

with their wife, no less.

I think that you both are missing my point but what can I say - he is happy and if he is then so am I...life goes on...
