advance parole? 1 yr waiting

I applied for AOS one year ago. I received a (second) biometrics appointment in July 2007 and on or about September 4, I received a notice that my case was being processed in the Los Angeles office. I'd like to travel in January to have our church wedding. I'm considering applying for an advance parole. Do you think it's worth it? I was thinking that at this rate I may receive the AOS approval at around the same time as the advance parole. If you received a notice that your case was being processed in LA like I did, how much longer after that did it take to get an approval of your AOS? What's your suggestion? Thanks in advance.

Try sending in a application without paying. Just send a copy of your NOA1 for the AOS.

It may fly as the new rules since the fee increase says you get a freebie for AP and EAD.

Don't know if prior apps are honored tho.

Worth a try as you said you may get the GC before AP approval anyway.

I'm sure you couldn't get away w/out paying either.

I'd suggest applying for AP because that's what we're going to do. I mean, if my husband's AOS hasn't been transferred or touched by the end of the year we'll apply for it.

Being that your case has been transferred to Los Angeles, you will likely have and interview. If you want to travel in January you need to file for the AP now as that it takes up to 90 days to approve. No one can guarantee that you will have your green card prior to January.

While we haven't been waiting quite as long as you, we're in the same boat. We want to travel in January, but wonder if we might get his Green Card before then. What we're doing is writing to our state senator because we have an information disclosure sheet here, asking them to inquire about our status and where we're standing. If it seems like we're stuck in name checks, we'll apply for AP. If it sounds like it's pending standard processing (like it says on our online status), we may wait. As much as spending the few hundred dollars will suck, if we really want to travel it is worth the money.

I'm just kicking myself for not applying for it when we applied for everything else. I guess I didn't expect he'd need it. :(
