I've read in lots of topics already that if I have a co-sponser that makes enough money that I shouldn't have a problem getting my fiance's visa approved. However, I'd already sent my fiance an AOS with my info (and my co-sponsers) a month ago and now I've very unexpectedly had to quit my job (very, very, unethical employer and I couldn't stand it anymore). So my question is, do I need to send my fiance a new AOS (notarized) but leave it blank since I'm unemployed? Should I attach a statement saying I am in between jobs but will have a new job by the time I apply for Adjustment of Status?? I'm confused.

i think she means affidavit of support not adjustment of status, i was confused at first as well. lol..

As far as your question, i have no answer, i think you should just wait till the interview and just explain there,, but i'm not 100% certain on this. good luck

You're right that with a co-sponsor you will have no problem with getting your fiance's visa approved. I'm not sure about this but it sounds reasonable to me to attach a statement to your already notarized AOS with any changes you need to make.

So it would be safe to just mail my fiance a signed statement about my job situation (stating I will find employment before applying for Adjustment of Status) and he could just attach that to the old Affidavit of Support that I gave him? I mailed him everything a few weeks ago so I just want to make sure I don't need to mail him a new Affidavit of Support with the employment stuff just saying unemployed (also with the statement).

We've had a long wait just to get to NVC- so I don't want to do anything that will make our journey more delayed or any more difficult than it has to be.

if i understand that your co-sponsor already covers the requirement and is willing i would think you should leave it as is. if you are searching for a job you may very well even have one by the time of interview. i could be completely wrong but i wouldn't advertise the lack of employment unless they ask you to.

I thought it would be better to be truthful. If he gets an interview before my two weeks are up that is excellent- but I highly doubt it considering it took almost 2 months just for CSC to mail our petition to the NVC. I'm preparing for a longer wait than a couple of weeks for an interview.

What I'm getting at is that I need to know if I should turn in an Affidavit of Support saying I'm unemployed or just have my fiance give my co-sponsers Affidavit of Support and not give them mine at all. I think it's better to be honest than just omit the truth- especially when dealing with the government. "omiting" the truth could come back to bite us in the @$$ in the future.

i'm not suggesting anything that is wrong, it's not a matter of truth vs untruth. if you have a willing and financially able co-sponsor than there is no need or requirement to submit any documentation that you are not employed. omitting something required would be deceitful but this is not a requirement. only required if the it is a joint sponsor meaning you were relying on both incomes to meet the poverty guidelines.

i do hope it all goes smoothly which ever way you decide to proceed and wish you a speedy reunion GOOD LUCK!

So, it would be acceptable for my fiance to only present an Affidavit of Support from my co-sponsor (who does make enough to support all of us) and to not present one from me since I will not be technically contributing this time around if i still have no job by the time of interview?

Sorry to clarify over and over, I just had everything figured out up until now and I've become very, very confused as to what to do. I just want to ensure that we don't make a stupid mistake that would lead to my fiance not getting his visa.
