After 13 months we finally received an I-797E that says the applications fingerprints have twice been rejected as illegible. Please provide a letter issued by the local law enforcement agency indicating the applicant has "no record". A separate letter is required for each law enforcement district in which the applicant has resided during the previous five years.

Original entry was on fiance' visa, where police records were already obtained to get the visa.

Is this letter referring to the time within the USA only? Do I just need to go to the local police office in our city to get this "certificate of good conduct"?

My second question is, now that this has happened, our work permit expires Jan. 2008. Should we assume we need to file for renewal of this work permit?

Thank you!
