I saved all our emails from the five weeks before we met in person. I transferred them to a new Yahoo account which I log onto every few weeks to make sure they don't close it down. Of course, every time I do that I then have to read some of them. Sometimes makes me cry to see how brave and optimistic we were - opening our hearts so completely and risking getting them smashed to pieces.

I've been planning on printing them out just in case of a Yahoo glitch. Must do that!

Both Josh and I still have all of our MSN logs (I think we're on 14 archives and still going strong) :) I have Skype history from back in January (lost the previous history due to new laptop) but I know I can't use that as evidence because we can have Skype on for days at a time... strange habit we've picked up over time (we just like to be able to pick up the headset at any time and talk to the other person.

I also keep the emails and text-emails he sends. It's nice that he texts my email address when he's out-and-about and I email his mobile phone in response. I haven't checked recently but it must be somewhere near the 6000-8000 text mark.

He always tells me I'm a hoarder and it's completely true. Luckily I have kept every airline ticket, receipt (restaurants, purchases etc), pictures and other assorted bumphf that I was given during our visits together. Should make putting the evidence together nice and easy :)

I have kept all of our communications. I keep the soft copies as well as print out all of them and keep them in a notebook. Someday our children and our grandchildren will read these, (possibly in shock and horror!) and discover what we went through to be together. They serve as an invaluable reference to me when it comes time to remember when birthdays are and the likes and dislikes of rels. Mostly I just enjoy browsing through them from time to time and remember all those wonderful times as we learned about each other.

I even have some of the letters written to ladies that did not work out. I keep these to remind myself beyond any shadow of a doubt why I love my fiancee the way I do and what it is that makes her so incredibly special above all others. I have some wonderful examples of scam letters.

I have tons of things for the scrapbook...but emails, nope! Tons of cards and gushy stuff though.

I do have this fax he sent me one day....he woke me up simply with with 'Lisa, I love you'

awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww makes me go all mushy just thinkin about it.

Or this one time when we were traveling...God I don't even remember where, but we were in some country in the EU. I had this habit of sending postcards home here to friends and fam in America. He was going in the PO to mail them for me, and he said 'do you want anything?' to which I sarcastically replied 'yeah I need a 20 cent stamp'

so out he walks with a 20 cent stamp and a wink.

Yeah, I still have the stamp. (L)

God, I love that man with all my heart.....

do i want to know why capt edited your post? :P

and you and david are so awesome:D

I dunno...do you? :P

I asked him to remove something that I shouldn't have put in there!!!

Thank you T...I think we're awesome too! Man, I miss him

I have all the little letters with little drawings that jerry sent me and pictures of things he sent. He saved copies of our emails to each other from the website we met on. One thing about this immigration process -- it encouraged my pack rat tendencies.

I have very few emails. I used to save the chat logs, but after never going back to look at them, I decided I didn't need them. Someday I'll probably purge the emails too because I have only looked at a few maybe once or twice. Guess I'm not as mushy as I thought because I can't imagine printing out all of the emails and chats we ever had. I know I'd eventually just pitch it. That said, I DO like having cards. It might be nice to put them in a scrapbook sometime. That would be nice to have...to see what cards we picked for each other, what was handwritten. I guess a printout of our words just doesn't do it for me like cards do.

I lost all of our early emails....but do have every bit of memorabilia from all of our trips we took meeting each other every 3-4 months or so, matchbooks, hotel keys, maps, Do not distrub signs....anything from our meetings....all the cards he's ever given me, and little gifts etc.

I also printed out some Visa Journey pages, like the day our visa was approved and other important milestones.

It's so sad to hear so many people lost their stuff. D and I lost pictures for a period of a year and a half, and I'm still gutted about that.

Although, we still have the mini DV cam footage, but it's not the same as piccies...

hmmmm....sex tapes? :P

I lost the majority of our emails :crying:

back when hotmail only had a small amount of space... I moved a bunch of my emails to a different account because my one account was getting full but then I forgot to access that account regularly and they closed it and i lost all my emails and then I forgot to access my other account and I lost all those emails :crying:

now of course hotmail has up to 5 GB of space :P

Same happened to me. We had both over 700 e-mails, about 2-5 everday since we met, and I was planning on printing the long love letter we had wrote in there. But this was on the account I created specially for him. After I moved here I did log in many times on it thinking it would be enough to keep the account opened, bur after 30 days of not receiving anything they all got deleted........

I understand they have to make some place somewhere, but I think its rude to delete an account after 30 days when it has been used many times a day for almost 2 years. 30 days is way too short of a notice. I was really sad because there was 5 or 6 major e-mails that I didn't want to lose :(

And for the replies on his side, well he stopped using his account as well and just forgot about it until we looked and it was all gone again....

:(

Losing pictures is the WORST! I've gone back to my good old FILM 35 millimeter after we lost a ton of our daughters baby photos.

I'm boycotting digital.....they NEVER get printed anyhow...at least I take my film in to be developed.

Yeah it was heartbreaking. And it was a period of time where we lived together, so there were LOADS of piccies

Shortly after Wes arrived, we made up two scrapbooks about our journey.

The first book contains a large section about the time before we met face-to-face. We printed out a lot of our e-mails and pasted them in the book. We also put in cards we had sent to each other. We only put in a few traded photographs for this portion of our story. We wanted the book to give the feel of how our relationship really was - how nothing was really 'real' until the face-to-face.

After our first meeting, the books are then loaded with photographs. Each time we were apart, the books then go back to emails with no photos. Again - telling the tale of separation and eventual reunification.

I lost some too to the Hotmail situation - along with some other correspondence from other friends that I also regret loosing. Fortunately, I still have some of those early ones in hardcopy as I printed out a whole slew of them to include with the I-129 - although I didn't use all of them for it. Shortly after we met in person Joe set me up with an email address on his own account so I have everything since then. He also transferred every thing that I had on my old computer when it began to give up the ghost so I didn't lose a single thing there. It is now safely stored on a separate Firelite drive.

I have all of the cards and other little giftie things he has given me along the way - and since:-). I haven't looked at them in sometime, but I know that they will bring me great pleasure in years to come as well.

love

Kathryn
