I thought of the same song when i read this! Escape ( Pina Colada Song) .. Ruppert Holmes

Although this story seems pretty far fetched - thousands of chat rooms with millions of users, telling the same story and not getting details that would set alarms off, not getting a picture before meeting, etc., let's just consider it the truth.

It just shows that being romantic and keeping the spark has more to do with how you treat each other, maintaining a level of mystery and space from each other, and not having crazy expectations.

I see two problems:

One, there is little to no real communication between this couple.

Two, they have unrealistic expectations about what it is to be married.

Neither of them will find true happiness until they understand that what they are looking for they already have.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

I agree with these observations and I'd add a third:

They have lost one thing that they may have had: trust. I think it's tragic, really, because they each clearly had within themselves those qualities that the other was seeking.

It's a lesson to all of us to put forth that little extra effort it takes to be solicitous, communicative, affectionate, respectful, etc... even if we don't really feel like it or have had a rough day. I feel very fortunate to have found a partner who is all of these things (even though I had wait til my dotage, kiss a lot of frogs, and ultimately go to the other side of the planet to find him  ).

Maya

A closet transvestite? Or the 'let's disguise ourselves as someone else to keep the spice in the relationship'?

Personally, I don't need that kinda spice ;)

If they put half as much effort into the marriage as they did into the "affair" they'd be very happily married. Sometimes people just can't see the wood for the trees.

Mags said, 'wood' ...hehehe.

You mean you don't let your husband wear a sky mask while you wear a wig and have him pretend to be a burglar breaking in? You're missing out on a lot of fun if you don't.
