OK. So I wake up early as a cutie bird, ready to continue packing etc. Go outside, have my first coffee, do my meditations, have a ciggie; all is good.

Come back in, log in to see how you crazies are doing and I hear a BANG outside my balcony (we don't smoke indoors). Look out and there's a damn bird the size of my arm comfortably sitting on Bren's chair. EEEEEWWWWWW. I bang the balcony door, nothing. Poke with broomstick (not the birs, but the cushion), nothing. I am about to cry. I HATE BIG BIRDS> our budgies (mysery & company) is one thing but this uninvited illegal is NOT.

And no, I will notgo outside and grab the darn thing with a towel and throw it outside (what if it can't fly and I become a dove-cide???). AAAAAAAA

Len, insane as usual + big bird.

why do you think it's blind???

it made it to your balcony, right?

hmm.. if you throw out bird seed, it might start getting comfy and want to live with you permanently..

If you pick it up and toss it off the balcony so it can fly away, (but instead it goes straight down to a loud splat) I don't think you'd be able to sleep tonight.....

I agree with Michelle. It's probably flown into your window and scrambled its brains. Give it some time to come to its senses. As soon as it realizes where it is it will fly out of there as fast as it can.

I agree too. And if it doesn't leave, you could call a local animal rescue organization. Maybe they have someone who will come and rescue it for you.

I've had my share of dealing with injured birds before. If it's major head trauma, it usually results in a seizure and death a few hours later. If it's minor, they'll fly away shortly. The best thing you can do is let the bird be. How is Bren with larger birds? Could you ask him to put the bird in a box with some towels, water and food? Do NOT toss the bird off the balcony! A call to the local wildlife centre is a good idea too. You can ask them what to look out for as far as fatal head trauma, etc.

I know that you don't like larger birds but try and think of what you'd do if this happened to Company and Mysery and treat the bird with the same level of care that you would extend to them.

Hmmmmm, I foresee bird on the menu for supper!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

OK - the saga of the bird is over. Bren finally took over said adventure while I went out to get more boxes (yup, more). When I came back, the bird was inside a red box (how the FFFF he managed that is beyond me). Calmly as he always is, he told me: Len, this bird will die soon, so I will keep it here and then BURY IT. EEEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.

I love my husband, but sometimes I wonder.... I am way toooooo insensitive and this guy is well.... a golden heart.

That said I can go back to my errands for the day.
