I will call again at lunch just to see what I get told.

Do you think they can tell if you call more than once in a day? I'm afraid of getting yelled at if I call again. I mean what if we get the same lady?

Ah I used to deal with this when I was a secretary for 6 something years. If it's a small office then yes they know you're calling everytime. Larger offices like call centers don't know you've called several times unless they're logging notes in the computer about you.

Kindly explain the date you were told the case was sent to DOS and you're calling back for clarification. Keep in mind they're supposed to help you not hender you. If they have the attitude of "you're being a pest" then they're not very professional.

It's a free country and you can call as many times as you want until you get what you want. Working in the financial and medical world I learned the squeeky wheel gets the grease especially when you're making a big fuss.

Ahhhhhhhh Doodlebug - it sounds word for word as to what DOS told me when I called last year. I had to call a few times before someone said that yes his case was there. Then they said that he passed the first check and he was going through the next 2. When I called back the next time, they asked if he showed up for the interview!!!!!!! WHAT THE %#@!??????????? She said that his case wasn't there. That was on a Friday and by Monday he got the call to pick up his visa. I'm wondering if once the case is complete, the computer kicks them out of the system or it is harder to find them once it is completed. Who knows? But it may be good news if they can't find him. Fingers crossed.

This is the exact reason why I tell people not to call DOS. I never spoke to someone that knew what they were talking about and for the hell of it I called 4 times one day and got 4 totally different answers. All calling DOS did was stress me out and give me an ulcer. I feel for ya, I really do, but I wouldn't bother wasting your breath with them.

So last week I called DOS and the woman on the phone said that he had one security check done but has a "few" more to do. I asked explicitely, "does this mean that the case is at the Department of State now?" and she said very clearly, "yes it is at the Department of State".

I was happy, I posted we're at the dos and all was well in my world.

Today I decided to check and see how many checks are done at this point so I called. The woman this time could not even find ANY information on him. Then she asked, "did he ever show up to the interview on the 22nd?", and I explained that we BOTH showed up but the interviewer did not so he was rescheduled for the 29th. Silence and then a long "hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm".

I said, was that a good hmmm? And she said I cannot find anything on him at all. Then she put me on hold. Then she said it seems like he's in Administrative Processing where they go over all of the evidence that he presented. I said is this at DOS? She said NO HE HAS NEVER MADE IT TO DOS YET.

I would swear like a truck driver right now but alhumdulilah for this an all pain in my life.

That is why I think if you're going to be calling, then you should call 2 or 3 times in one day to try for a consistent answer. I say if you get 2/3 same answers then you're probably good to go.

yep yep yep, exactly. I don't remember who it was that I called and got different answers but I know it was pure he!! getting anything confirmed so I gave up and waited. I wish you and WIW get good news soon.

I just called ( I know i know i said i wouldn't...) and this time I get that the DOS is done and it is now up to Cairo to issue the visa.

Im' not going to get too too excited though until he gets the call 'cause who knows.
