Can anyone answer this question for me? I contacted Washington DC and the NVC and they stated that because they only had my husband case for 3 days the visa fees would be collected by the Embassy in Kingston, Jamaica. I have tried to contact the embassy to get an answer to the question but have received no response. I was told that they do not collect visa fees there and that they must be paid at an American Bank. Please advise.

Thanks,

Hi, welcome to Vj. Please add a timeline here so that we can better understand you situation: http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/intro.php

K3 fees are not collected at NVC. K3 applicants pay the non-immigrant visa fee of $100 in the country they are applying, usually at the time of the interview or at the time that they drop off their documents. For us, my wife can pay the fee and drop off the documents at the local American Express office since they have an arrangement there, or she can pay at a specific bank and get a receipt to take with her to the embassy when dropping off the documents. Contact the embassy/consulate where your SO will apply for the specifics on your situation. Or perhaps someone applying in Jamaica can give you the specifics. But don't stress out, the fee will have to be paid by your SO according to what is accepted in Jamaica.

Cheers

Thanks so much for getting back to me. I saw some other fees listed in the amount of 335.00 on their website (Embassy's) that's why I became a little worried. My husband already paid the visa fee when he had to file the form DS-156 form. Is that all it is? Then why are the other fees listed on their site?

I will post my timeline! Thanks again and let me know :)

You will receive specific instructions on how to pay the visa fee, when you receive the interview notice from the Consulate. Sounds like they have you pay the fee at a bank and then bring the receipt. The fee for a K3 visa is $100. Usually (if not always) you can pay it in the equivalent local funds.

What type of visa have you applied for (K-3 or CR-1)? I invite you to join the Yardie Part 4 thread. You will have an opportunity to meet other folks that have gone through the process in Kingston. In Jamaica, the visa fee is paid at Paymaster (located in Jamaica). However, the $100 fee is not paid until close to the interview date. If the NVC has only had your case for 3 days, you will have to wait at least 8 months to get an interview.
