My husband's AOS application has been sitting at the NBC for a few months now. Could his name be going through a name check? (The case hasn't been touched since the day after biometrics).

Also, the CSC and our local office (Orlando) state the processing times for the I-485 are 6 months. Does this sound right?

That is a possiblity. Have you done an inquiry to the USCIS? When we filed the AOS, we received our AOS interview letter approximately 6-7 weeks after initial filing.

The processing times aren't for family based apps, so who knows? We had our interview letter 3 weeks after filing, before biometrics were even done, and there are people at my office who have been waaaaiting so it's unpredictable.

From what I've seen, name check usually don't hinder a transfer to CSC or an interview ... you just won't get the green card after the interview if name check isn't clear, BUT with USCIS anything is possible.

this is the way the world ends

this is the way the world ends

not with a bang but a whimper

This is what I thought - and like you said, with USCIS anything can happen.

I looked at the processing time for the I-485 and it says 6 months. Soooo, I think we'll wait 'til November before we press the issue more.
