If you still have time ( more than a month before your interview), then I suggest that you apply for "CORRECTION OF ENTRY" of your BC at LCR. This will take about a month and will cost about p1,500.00. There is 3 weeks manadatory newspaper postings, that's why it takes about a month. At LCR, bring documents with the correct spelling, like the baptismal certificate.

After the LCR, ask for endorsement letter, and they will submit the corrected BC and the endorsement letter to NSO. You will also receive a copy of the endorsement letter and then bring this to NSO (Vibal Building in Quezon City not the main office in QC) and you can apply and get your "unconverted copy" of the corrected/annotated BC.

You can also do this even if you only have limited time, you may need this corrected document in the future.

But for the meantime, if you no longer have time to process this and while the process for correction of entry is going, then get an Affidavit of Discrepany, bring your baptismal certificate during your interview, as they sometimes would ask for this as further evidence of your "real name". If USEM CO/pre-interviewer asks about the discrepancy, then at least you have a reason that you had applied for correction of entry but still under process.

There are applicants who were placed on AR for weeks due to problems with BC (late registration, disrepancy with names, etc..).

Good Luck!

HELEN

what do you guys think about a mispelling on the parents name. my SO's fathers name is eddy & its spelled eddie on her birth cert. should we file a correction or let it go?

If your SO is planning to petition her parents later on, then it will be better to file/apply for Correction of entry at this time than wait for years to correct it. On the forms, they will ask for parents name and there should be no discrepancy on what you will write on the forms and what was written on the documents that you will present. Just my advise.

My wife had her parents information corrected on her birth certificate before we got married in the Philippines. It only took a few weeks to correct the BC.
