We already submitted our petition to vermont service center on March 28 and until now we haven't received anything from the service center.Is there a way to ask or whatever to know what's the status.We don't have a lawyer and we sent money order.Is there a way of knowing what's the status on our petition???

Unfortunately I don't think you can find out until they give you a receipt number. But if it makes you anxious I would recommend sending a check in the future because that way you'll know if it was cashed. And you can even send future documents via courier/tracking for peace of mind. Mar 28th wasn't too long ago, just give it some more time.

I would also suggest filling out your timeline. It'll help VJer's better answer your future questions.

Yup i agree with chocolaterie,it only seems like a long wait ................you might be able to track that money order to see if it has been cached depending on what type it is ............hang on and GOOD LUCK !

They received my petition on March 30th and I got NOA1 on April 5th. I did send them a check. If you send them a postal money order you could ask them for a copy of the money order it will cost you between 9-12 dollars and it will take about a week for you to get it.

Just be a bit more patient, you should be getting your NOA1 shortly..Vermont were fairly quick at one point.

Don't worry too much about the NOA1 until more than a few weeks have passed... we've noticed that the USCIS has been really slow to kick out NOA2's as well... Maybe they're stopping to train about this new immigration bill?? Just a theory!

My petition was received in Nebraska (fed ex) on March 23 and I received my NOA1 in the mail on April 4 so it took 12 days until I received it. My guess is you will receive it April 10 or 11 - so far you seem to be on track (but yes the waiting and not knowing via cashed check is hard!)

Just be patient. If you try to find out if your money order was cashed, by the time you find out, you'll probably already have your NOA2 the way VSC processes cases!

Thank you guys for all the encouragements!! Hopefully we already have one, coz my fiance told me we have a mail from vermont hopefully it's the NOA1 or whatever it is NOA2.hehehehe!! thanks much!! I will update my timeline.
