Hi guys, we're leaving in 3 weeks from now and I wonder if anyone of you who have experienced Detroit as POE? Please share your experience, long queue? strict immigration officer? How long did it take for them to check on your paperworks? Im a bit worried as we only have 1 hour and 40 mins ground time for plane change and we might miss our flight. Thanks!!

I don't know anything about flying into Detroit, but that 1h 40m connection seems a little tight when coming an any international flight. I would certainly feel uncomfortable with such a short connection time.

Hi JJ,

I went through Detroit as my POE. It was a beautiful Airpot yes it has a long queue and it's normal and I was already out of the Immigration interview in 15 mins and my connecting flight was less than an hour. When I went to check in my luggage for my connecting flight I knew I was out of time.

I was advised by the lady at the counter that there are still 3 more flights to Raleigh, NC that day and she said I could choose anytime I want to. I was at the airport at 10:30 was suppose to take 11:30 flight so I decided to take the next flight which is 4pm and there was a snow storm that time (Feb) my 4pm flight was delayed for 2 hrs.

It was an adventure good thing my fiance' didn't leave his house until I call him and told him about the delay. I met another filipina who's going to Oklahoma with a 3pm flight so we both explored the Detroit airport with our baggage in tow and tried riding the concourse train that took us from point A to B (in 1 min I guessed) then back again. We ate at Mc Donald's and Starbucks (it was freakin cold). I think I spent $15 for a Mickie D meal and small latte. I almost fainted and since then I stopped converting $ to Php.

It was a long day, I boarded the plane 5:30 and got to Raleigh 7pm and my the fiance was aleady at the baggage carousel waiting for me. We're out of the ariport around 8pm. It's a happy journey since then.

Good luck on your journey!

Thanks Urge and Fish... I am just worried to miss our flight as we have my son w/ us... Dont want to wait too long at the airport if ever we missed our plane and im really hoping not.

hey good luck!!! detroit wasnt my poe but i always heard nice things about detroit airport for your poe coz they say its an "easy" one lol... anyways 1 and a half hr space depending on the crowd would be enough for me since you're already inside of the airport. i think i had lesser space than you are but i still did make it to my next flight (san-fran to denver) and met a filipina who sell coffee and phone card lol... happy trip!!!

My POE was Detroit too, it was just so easy since the immigration lines that time was fast since there's only few people was there. All they did was check my passport and visa, then they ask for the paperworks from the Embassy (yellow Envelope) and the form I-94 that I filled up aboard. Then, they asked me some questions maybe 2 to 3 questions. And then, they instructed me to go to other corner of the booth to fill up and sign a form.

After that I'm all done, we went to the baggage area and exit....
