My Husband had his interview In Nigeria . After the interviewer asked all the questions like how did we meet. How many children does your wife have and so forth...Then He looked over our wedding pictures and other pics I had taken while there in Nigeria. After all that he told my husband that he could not give him the Visa now that he would need to do a further investigation(Admin Review). He kept pics and had my Husband fill out some type of information form that would provide contact numbers and so forth. He also gave my husband a form that explained what was going on and then told him that he would be called or e-amiled when to return to the embassy. The form given he would need to present at the time of interview. I'm still a bit confused. If anyone has gone through the same thing. or going through it now please help me out. I would like to know How long did it take and if you were approved or not. Thanx in advance for your help.

AP/AR can mean security checks, background checks, document verification with the national registry and home investigation.

No one can predict the length of time as each case is unique.

It can last weeks or months.

Whose contact information was he asked for ? If from family and friends then it sounds like a home or background investigation.

You can contact the embassy every couple of weeks and call DOS 202 663 1225 ( press 1, press 0 ) for periodic updates

on your case status.

I don't know anything about AR, but wanted to connect you with moon1968 who is going through the exact same thing in Nigeria right now with her husband. However, she was able to find out exactly what they are checking and where her file is. Maybe you can connect with her and share experiences. I don't know how to link or I would like her thread here. Maybe this will work: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...c=88446&hl=

Anyway, it's called interview day cause they told her husband at his interview that they were being put on AR so no visa right now.

Hi,

this is Kimberly, knowen and Moon1968.

I am going through the same excat thing that you are.....the very same day I found out that we are put in AP I got on the phone right away and got in touch with the NVC office in Washington DC. They told me that they could see where we were put on AP and saw all the details of our case, The were not specific, However they told me that my case would be sent there to the DC office and that is where it would be investagatied........They told me that they would possible get the case on monday........I called them back looking for more answers on friday....They already had my case and to my surprise had already sent it out and the investagation has already started.......Also because we filed the CR1 that that helped out alot and they only have one thing to check on......not sure what that means??? I can only asume that they are trying to look into his time in Libya........anyway .......Until someone tells me other wise I feel very good about my case and that it will get resolved soon......The fact that it is not sitting in the Lagos office waiting to be investagatied along with the fact that it was so quickly sent to the DC office within 1 day.....and the investagation or Security check has already started give me hope that it will be taken care of soon........Im going to hold on to that hope ........If you have any questions please feel free to contact me through my e-mail ..... moonptals@aol.com I would like to find out more about your case and what is happening......

Hello Kathleen,

I'm so sorry to hear about your husband being placed on AR. Believe me, I can truly relate to how you're feeling because my fiance and I are going through the same thing. His second interview is on October 16th and God willing, I'll be there with him this time. Here's a quote from one of my previous posts explaining what happened to us:

[Now to update you on our case. As you know, my fiance had his interview on June 21st and we were placed on AP. Our calls and e-mails to the DOS and the Dakar embassy had only netted generic responses, which prompted me to contact my senator's office on July 5th. His immigration constituent said she would mail me a Privacy Act Release form. I finally received the form in the mail on July 12th and faxed it back the next day. My fiance and I received an e-mail from the embassy on July 10th stating the following:

Dear Mr. XXXXXX:

During the interview stage of the immigrant visa process, consular officers have to review approved petitions to confirm that the requisite family relationship, on which the petition is based, still exists.

Unfortunately, you could not provide any convincing evidence of your relationship with the petitioner, and could not answer basic questions regarding the relationship. As a result the consular officer has scheduled you for a more in-depth interview on October 16, 2007 at 2 PM. Please bring all evidence of yours relationship to the petitioner and all previous passports.

Sincerely,

Eligibility Review Unit. (MS).

What a load of bullshovic!!!!! My fiance answered all of the interviewers questions and we provided several photos (including one taken while he was on his knee proposing with the ring in his hand), e-mails, shipping receipts, letters, my phone records (he wasn't able to get his), and greeting cards. My fiance said the interviewer browsed through our relationship evidence, but returned everything to him after the interview. How the he|| can the Eligibility Review Unit make a decision about the validity of our relationship without the evidence in front of them!! I included all of this info in my letter to the senator.

Needless to say, I've been very angry and depressed about this whole thing. I'm slowly getting better. I refuse to let this situation take away my sanity or break my spirit. My fiance and I are committed to being together. I pray that this will be resolved very soon so we can start our lives together here under one roof as husband and wife.]

I was devastated when I first heard the news. My fiance was very upset, but he tried to remain strong for me. For weeks, I felt as if I was becoming unglued. It was all I could do to get through my daily routine. I cried, screamed, prayed, cursed, cried some more, prayed harder. There were times when I couldn't even talk to my family or friends about the situation. It just hurt too much.

Unfortunately, the senator's office was unable to get the embassy to reconsider or at least move the date of the second interview up. Here it was July, we hadn't been together since December, and we were facing another three months apart. I just kept praying, and yes, sometimes crying, and thank God time has been flying! I'll be with my baby in less than three weeks!!

I don't know what your religious beliefs are, but if you believe in prayer, then pray pray pray! It works! Pray not only for the situation to be resolved soon, but pray for strength, peace, guidance, etc in the meantime. If you truly believe that you and your husband are meant to be together, then don't give up. I wish you all the best with your visa process and your marriage. We're here for you.

God bless,

Shanon (F)
