hello fellow filipinas and vj members.

i had done abortion way back my college years. i know i have all the valid reasons why i did it. i will be having my medical and i worry if i have to tell them that i have done it before. if ever, would that be a ground for disapproval? i'm really worrying about this. i know abortion is not legal in our country and i even thought it is like taking illegal drugs that will put you on ban entering US. i really dont know what to do now. all i want is to be with the man i really love. :crying: please :help:

to those who are willing to help please do reply. you can send me PM. thanks in advance.

They will ask you during the medical if you ever had a pregnancy so its up to you now to disclose it or not. . but I dont believe abortion is a ground for denial of the visa. It is not drug related and of course not contagious. This time, probably use discretion. My friend was in the same situation but she didnt reveal it during the medical. She is single and never married . .she passed the interview.

Just my opinion. Goodluck

I remember someone from here who disclosed about the abortion she recently had and the panel physician required her a psychological evaluation... PM Helen or "vsmtghdy" and consult this matter to her. Like everyone says, she's a doctor by profession and she knows everything more than anyone else here.

Good luck.

Where the abortion thing gets a bit "sticky" is that this is an illegal act in the RP. Not sure that admission of a crime is a wise course of action.

I feel the exact same way. If an illegal act has been executed by the beneficiary in the past (according to the RP laws), I would not recommend disclosing past discretions. It could get you banned from being eligible for a visa entirely or for a time period, depending on the past discretion. However, this is simple my opinion and I am in no way advising you to do anything that you feel is immoral for you. On the flip side, if you were my fiancee, I would tell you not to disclose an abortion because there is no way they can ever prove that it occurred.

Cheers...

Although abortion is not "per se" grounds for visa denial, this would fall in the category of "Physical and Mental Disorders with Associated Harmful Physical Behavior" that need further evaluation, that is referral for a Psych evaluation that can take time for the evaluation and may cause delay of the interview. Psych evaluator will need to clear the applicant -> that such harmful behavior is not likely to recur and that the applicant is no longer a threat to self and/or a possible threat to others. Since Panel Physicians are no longer allowed to do Internal Examinations (IE), unless they have "absolute" reasons to do so, they don't have means/ways to tell if an applicant had previous pregnancy/abortions.

It is up to the applicant to divulge this information, but personally, I would suggest not to.
