Changing Drivers License from State to State

Hey just wondering other peoples experiences....

Some friends of ours just moved from Florida to Minnesota. I don't remember this happening to other friends of mine who have moved to Minnesota from other states, but they went to the licensing office to change thier drivers licenses and were told they have to pass the knowlege test again!!!!!!

For all classes and all endorsements!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anybody else moved and had to re-test?????????????????????????????/

No. When I moved to Florida, they asked me a bunch of questions, cut up my NY license (which I had another copy of for chalking purposes but oh well), and printed me a Florida license.

But Florida is weird - no inspection law on cars, and October 1st no proof of insurance needs to be shown soo...but I know a lot of people who moved into NY who had no problems either and NY is a lot tougher.

When I moved to Oklahoma, I had to retake the written test, but not when I moved to Illinois or Colorado. Can't remember about Wisconsin.

When I moved from Colorado to California I had to take the written exam and the same when I moved from California to Colorado.

Pretty lame..... but at least I can put a stop to all the Minnesota bashing that has been going since MN is not alone in this insanity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hubby lived in Florida for 10 years, so when he moved to California with its DMV regulations and car inspection requirements, it was a real shock. He had to take the written test to get a license, and it was a pain to register his out-of-state truck.

Stewart was in the same boat as Meow!! He had a NC one, and making it a FL one was a piece of cake No tests, nothing- just fees and some waiting!

I'm from NY and shocked at the lack of regs. here. Although, registering my out of state car was a pain - cost me a thousand extra to buy it from my parents, then 770 dollars in taxes and fees!

The lack of inspection law is what shocks me the most, I think.

Hey now that we've talked about drivers licenses........ what about any endorsements you have like snowmobile or motorcycle??????????? Do you have to update those as well through taking the knowledge test or whatever else some endorsements require??????????????
